Why can't a Hunter learn to mine? You're crippling basic functions of the game.
Never said they can't learn, just that he's a hunter who hasn't learned it. It is part of the hardcore pvp experience too, to have to rely on other people. So far it has worker rather well on the server
It all depends on how you want to roleplay. You could have been a hunter, later captured and enslaved to work in mines etc etc. THEN you would be able to mine. We want communities to be reliant on eachothers characters. It's how we like to play.
You are not allowed to meta-game. If your character dies for a valid reason, he/she is dead and any knowledge he/she may have had is now completely lost. This means that if you die somewhere with a lot of gear, you are NOT allowed to run back and get it back.
No one with a brain would EVER follow this rule.

People who actually care about roleplay will probably do it. I mean that's the point of an RP server. That being said, your rules may be a bit strict OP, particularly the needing to write a backstory and whatnot. I feel like that's a bit much.
We want a short backstory so that players doesn't go "i'm a blacksmith farmer miner bcuz i read some books and stuff". We JUST had a player who did that exact thing.

Reason for joining: I'm bored and I like hardcore minecraft and roleplay. and I wanna play MC SMP.
"My lord, please!"
"Nonsense! For betraying our kingdom, I declare you BANISHED from our kingdom!"
The rain was cold and hard as Moj trudged slowly away from the kingdom of Hammyre.
He knew what he had done, and he regretted it deeply.
Moj wandered for weeks on end, living on animals he found and farming wheat where he could.
Finally, on a sunny day, in the distance, he saw something.
A new land.
A new life.
A new chance for a Hunter to live a normal life.

People who can't take the extra 2 minutes to write a short biography (as shown in the OP) probably aren't even going to bother roleplay at all, and we don't want people who aren't roleplaying on this server so it serves a purpose.

Sure.

Well.. That's one way to make them. Yeah. OP forgot to add that with your app, we want your in-game name, reason for wanting to join and RP experience.

I used to do a lot of roleplaying on World of Warcraft and half the time I had to deal with people going and getting killed in role play. There's actual several ways in WoW you could be revived
But yeah, Minecraft is in no way a good way to do any sort of roleplay unless it's a closed community, and I don't mean whitelists. I mean selective joining/friends.
You will have people just run to get their shit, or say they found it while exploring. How do you say they were not just going a direction and picked it up.
I can understand if it's in a cave, but not above ground PVP
Ok, let's do this. I don't care if people think I'm weird
Ingame name: silentjubjub (Hopefully there's nicknaming on the server otherwise I don't see how that's going to look)
Character type: Dwarf, able to mine with great efficiency and live in underground societies (Is this allowed?)
Story:
In a land that shall not be named, there lied the great dwarven city that shall not be named underneath the volcano... that shall not be named.
For it is too painful to recall such names of such places. Of such a time.
That volcano was the death of my brethren. They dug too deep and too greedily. I dare to not speak of this any longer.
There I remained for days, hiding under my wife's corpse. My slain child was laying on his bed and I was dying of thirst. That day, I made the decision to escape from that hellhole. I do not know why I wasn't killed.
Maybe it was fate that I ventured upon this new land. I shouldered my trusty pickaxe and began work once more.
RP experience: I've played on Age of Mines. I don't mean to blow my own horn but I regarded myself as the best thief when I played. (I stole the entire server's bank vault at one point.)
Other than that, I don't really have much RP experience aside from stuff like HL2RP.
I don't have a dwarf skin yet.

Otherwise than that, I like it! Just change it to human being and we're golden.
Whitelisted, welcome in!

We've managed to have a server like this before. And we /invsee alot to see that players are not powergaming. We are excellent admins, fo real.

You just said you /invsee them, that's not answering my point. Like I said, if they were randomly exploring and found their gear, it should be kept.
Maybe ask them, prod them a bit but don't just take it.

Oh, sorry, misunderstood you. Yeah, if they have a valid reason for why they found all their stuff, they are allowed to keep them. We keep tabs on all the players. And as you said, we ask them first to make sure it's not foul play, of course.
I never got the point of whitelists. Yeah, sure, you're preventing some greifers. However, chances are that you're missing out on a lot of good players too.

So quick to shit on a thread. Read the OP before making a judgement like that.

Also just get a plugin that deletes all their stuff on death.

Okay I get it you dislike me I dislike you whatever. Just because I asked a simple question, doesn't mean I don't like the server. In most other RP-related things I've seen, a class can learn a profession. How would I know that a Hunter didn't know how to mine if I hadn't read the thread? It's not like you're the best poster, whenever you disagree with something minecraft-related you call it autistic; are you really one to judge if something's autistic, considering you run a server hosting a map of Earth made in a block video game? I recall that your last server went downhill because you acted like a dick to a lot of people, you'd think you'd learn but NOPE.

Don't get so worked up dude, I didn't call you a sperg or insulted you personally (unlike you), but you jumped to a conclusion before you even read thoroughly. I was simply pointing out that it makes the guy's server LOOK bad even if you don't go outright and say it, and you were saying this before you even read it/played on the server. Facepunch is really easy to convince when quality of a server comes into play, the first few comments can mean everything for this guy so it would be smart to read thoroughly and play first before you make a sharp judgement which could set the tone for the rest of this thread.
Don't be so angsty over nothing. (posting on my profile telling me to hang myself)

Ah you fixed it, welcome in!
So I have a question:
I died in front of the Lancaster First Expeditionary Outpost bridge. In order to resume roleplay at a later date, I needed to get back to the outpost.
When I went back to the outpost, I saw my stuff on the bridge and picked it up just because my character saw it and well hey, it's where I needed to be.
Was this a valid reason to pick my stuff back up or do I need to drop it in a ditch somewhere?

What do you mean with the bolded part?
It sounds like a legit reason to pick up your stuff.
Will this do?
IGN: Misu07
Backstory: David lived with his father, in a small town until he was 18. During this time, he became his father's apprentice within the coal mine that the town was built around. He is experienced in mining, as he has done so ever since he could firmly hold a pickaxe. After his father concluded his training, he went on to work with the materials he mined, eventually becoming a slightly skilled blacksmith ontop of his prior mining experience. He doesn't have much skill in swordsmanship, however his skill with the pickaxe and hammer is quite reknown. His current motto is "If I can hit it with 'me pick, I'll mine it!"
Accepted! Welcome in mate

Well when you left that day, I was supposed to just hang around the outpost until you got back. :v:
[editline]11th August 2012[/editline]
Or whoever left that day, I think it was a pablo or something
Ah yeah, his computer completely died shortly after he left the server.
Can players be Wizards/Spellcasters?
