Well, I've had an issue for a while that I've both ignored and not been able to find a solution to. When I try to connect to a CS: S server, ANY CS: S server, it just brings me to the server info page where the ping jumps from a normal level to an impossible number, usually in the low thousands. Failing that, it trys to connect, goes for four ticks, and then fails.
I thought it may have been my download filter, but that wasn't it. After I turned sound downloads back on, it just did the same thing. Last night, I also observed that after I tried, it cut off internet access on my computer unless I restarted my router and modem.
It's strange, really. I have no problem in TF2 or GMod, and I can play Neotokyo too. I haven't tried HL2: DM though, but I feel this may be CS: S. And if I host a server with all bots as to play it in a singleplayer manner, it's fine.
So what shall I do? Is CS: S broken forever, or is there some kind of fix to this?
Verify game cache, then reinstall.
Why reinstall? If it verified, wouldn't it be fine? Then I'd have to find all of my damned mods again, too. Or does verifying just necessitate a reinstallation?
Thanks, by the way. First straight answer I've ever gotten for this issue.
Verify, if that doesn't work, THEN reinstall.
Alright. After validation it did the same thing. Now I did Right Click-Delete Local Content, and now I'm "reinstalling" if that was an adequate method to make it reinstall. If not, do I delete all the CSS folders in the Steamapps folder and whatnot?

Dammit, it didn't work. Now I'm going to delete the folder from steamapps>(My name) and then do the delete local files, and THEN do the reinstall, and afterwords validate the cache. If that all doesn't work, I'm just going to give up on it.
Alright then. A full reinstall did absolutely nothing. I'll try running it as administrator later on, but I doubt it'll do anything and I don't feel like restarting my internet right now. Guess I'm never playing CS: S and I'll just keep in installed for Gmod. Whee.
You're boned.
Try sending in a Steam support ticket for help.
I sent a ticket in about 6 hours ago, thanks for the obvious idea I didn't consider. About how long does it usually take them to get back to you, as I'm sure they get a lot of tickets?

It can take 1 hour to 1 month. Depending on where you are, and how busy they are.
