For those wondering about the closed Alpha, you must sign up for it at deadmatterga.me don't sign up if the following applies
1. You expect extreme polish
2. You expect perfected gameplay
3. You want to get a really refined idea of what the mod is going to be about.
4. If your not willing to provide feedback on bugs
5. You want to take snapshots of what you believe is a flaw and then mistepresent the mod.
If you'd like to take gameplay videos, please let me know in advance at nzorko@deadmattergame.com I'm not going to force an NDA but I want a smooth process of Closed Alpha testing. This is going to be a true Alpha, not what a demo used to be. Your information is critical and so is feedback so when there is a public release there isn't a shit storm about how buggy the game is.
Sign ups are here:

Dead Matter is a mod for Crysis 2 that I have been working on since August of last year, and it will be released during the Christmas sale for steam. I will be continually adding maps and applying bug fixes as well as new features. The mod focuses on 3 'phases' the first one is when the zombie outbreak first happens, the city is full of Chaos with many people being chased around by zombies and looters, police getting completely overran by panicked people, looting, and 911 calls. The second phase is calmer, it revolves around the player barricading a building or setting up a camp, the player will need to find large amounts of supplies as well as start to establish farming for food. The third phase is a larger settlement such as a entire town, you can also trade with other settlements or be attacked by rival settlements. You could loose an entire settlement over night if cards aren't played right. Your people will also rebel if they don't have enough food, it's about maintaining a balance and ensuring everyone's survival.
So here are some imgur albums from the mod:

So tell me what you think facepunch, what should be improved or worked upon?

What's with the extreme over-abundance of post-apocalyptic-RPG-survival-thriller games getting released?
Oh, and I like the way it looks so far.

over abundance? there's been like 5
looks pretty jammin', dude.
So these phases, do they release over time and add to the game or are they actually things that happen over time ingame?
Looking amazing. Very pretty.
Looks great. If you put effort into this it'll definitely sell like hot cakes. Few questions that is pretty much my first thoughts when I see a game like this:
Can you tell us what this will have other than fancier graphics than other zombie mods that will make this one stand out?
How populated will the maps be with zombies?
Are they fast or slow? Dumb or smart?
What's the barricading system going to be like? Will the barricadible places be predetermined or can the player go "Oh I like this spot, I'll settle here".
It looks pretty ,but you'd have a better chance of people supporting it if you could actually show some of the mechanics you mentioned. Also are you going to have multiplayer?

yeah, i kind of agree. a lot of the screenshots posted look like they're missing tons of content yet and if you're pushing for a december release those are either old screenshots or there's not really that much actually in it yet.

Nope, it was initially planned that I would fix up the ai to work properly in multiplayer but it's next to impossible. That's why there is a lot to do in singleplayer.

How'd I do considering I'm bad at photoshop?
Bad a Photoshop? I disagree, it looks rather nice.
I'm interested also since it's singleplayer thats a plus considering we have DayZ and WarZ being both multiplayer so this could be great, good luck. Would love to see a video though considering it's 3 months away from release but take your time.
make a clean and as minimalistic as possible Interface and i will fucking love you
The mod has a lot of information to communicate, I'll try my best
Make it look like this.

Can we see a video of some sort?
Can we see a video of some sort?
Sure, however things are quite uh broken up at the moment, haha. (downtown is one map file while the Forrest area is another) I also need to get a few assets sorted out and reskins as well as Bryant getting the scale of a few buildings figured out. I also need to port the HUD ingame, Blake hasn't bloody talked to me in a while so I guess I will recreate the HUD based on his ideas, zombie ai and ai navigation needs some work, mostly navigation and CPU rape wise.
Tl;dr gimme 3 weeks
How much travel will there be?
I love the idea of having to hoard supplies and then stretching them out over a journey, over some long thin map that takes time, with few human interactions, you can really hammer over how desolate and empty the world is becoming.
Will it have multiplayer?
Ah sorry, didn't see that post.

Read the thread next time please.
This looks fantastic, I was just wondering though will there be an endgame once the three phases are completed or is it more of a "See how long you can last" sort of thing.

I want to add an endgame, but I am not sure how to properly do it and make it worth it. I had a concept of something like the military trying to reclaim the land and had a 50/50 chance of either being friendly or hostile to the settlements, if they were friendly the settlements would assist them and there would be an outro spoken by a voice actor speaking of how the island had become a safe haeven and a FOB for the military. If they were hostile the towns are destroyed or they are basically slaves for the military members to make there life easier, humanity is not worth saving type ending. (The lines for this have actually been recorded) In the end of both military endings you board a helicopter with a unknown destination.
There were others such as fixing a docked ferry, stocking it with supplies and heading out to the ocean to Hawaii to avoid the winter. Fixing an airplane for escape is also an option, there was supposed to be a random chance of the pilot dieing.
The endgame is most likely going to be an optional escape, which can be done by fixing a variety of transport that each settlement is close to. (Possible settlements: Airfield, Harbour, Emergency Broadcast Center, many others but they don't have the escape vehicles) There is also the option of bandits taking control of the territory that you need.
I don't really know what exactly will be the endgame, but I really want a large goal to work toward in-game.
Looks pretty good. This would be the sole reason I buy Crysis 2. Good work.
that sounds pretty nice
That sounds and looks amazing man, Could you possibly add some more details on the second and third phase of the game and how it works?
And how will you be able to fortify buildings and the such?
And will it be multiplayer?

You basically have to scavenge for Wood, Sheet Metal, Nails and Screws to create a barricade. Wooden barricades offer poor protection against zombies while metal offers better protection but is harder to find. There are also many things that can be upgraded on your building that you have barricaded.
And for like the fourth time in the thread, no multiplayer.
Holy shit I remember seeing this on Reddit and I was actually looking for it yesterday, it looks amazing, please finish this project it will be great
do it do it do it do it do it do it
Looks nice, brah. Finish it, so I can play it.
