Noctis is a space exploration game that was made back in the days of MS-DOS.
Why is it worth mentioning? IT HAS OVER 1,000,000,000 STARS. Each star can has up to 8 PLANETS that can have numbers of MOONS. Do the math...
And get this...you can actually land on them and explore them on foot.
Why have we not been able to make a game that can top this in space exploration!?
Pros
Infinite planets to explore.
New planets can be named by players and posted in the next release.
Actually explore planets on foot and find civilizations and new species.
Under 5 MB in size.
Cons
GOD AWFUL GRAPHICS
No sound
Old game usually = compatibility issues.
STEEP learning curve.

TIPS: Run the Start.bat file to start the game. I don't know how this will run on newer OS'es (It was made for DOS)
Doesn't seem to run on Windows 7. Damn it, this looked good and all.
Never knew there were civilizations and species in this game.
I wouldn't mind the graphics so much if you could go better than the tiny DOS resolutions. It's a shame Noctis V never seemed to go anywhere.

You can only find Felysian's ruins and there's one or two different animals.
BTW, I wouldn't say Noctis IV was made in MS-DOS days as it was released in 2002.
IMO Ad-Astra is better, since it haves lots of stars too, overall better graphics, custom music, sounds, combat, mining, trading, runs on NT systems etc. But that's just my opinion.
I never figured out the controls, even after reading the manual multiple times.
Yeah, won't work on Win 7 for me...

You move your mouse in the direction you want to go, hold right mouse button to strafe and look up/down, and left click to select things on the ship's UI.

Noctis has its own charm in being a simple exploration game, nothing else.

You should post a link to the official site in the OP
www.anynowhere.com
There you can find a link to Noctis IV CE which has an executable for newer OS, and a lot of new stuff like a jetpack, etc.
trying out right now
could they make the controllers any harder?
Holy crap, this game is superb!
