I'd suggest Castlevania: Dawn of Sorrow.
Also heard from a friend that Mario & Luigi: Bowsers inside story is pretty good.

I'm not sure if I'd personally recommend Scribblenauts though. Even though it's rather unique the gameplay gets stale incredibly fast.

The fairly old Mario Kart DS is still a fantastic game, especially if you can have a game with some other people with DSs.

The Dark Spire! ...Well, probably not. That game is for a very specific niche.

Other than that, the Advanced Wars series is excellent and Phantasy Star 0 is a great action RPG.

This ^, plus Pokemon Platinum (Shut up, I like it), Phantasy Star Zero, and if you're into it, Trackmania DS. (Not the best game, but fun nonetheless)

advance wars: days of ruin. dual strike is okay I guess, but it's very basic and imbalanced compared to days of ruin. if you're in europe, it'll be called dark conflict.

kirby canvas curse is amazing. new super mario bros is classic fun.

The new Pokémon games can't be any less of what the originals were. Give those a pre-order. Your money would be worth it.

If you like RPGs, get Bowser's Inside Story, both of the Dragon Quest games, and Final Fantasy IV (don't bother with III).
I'd also suggest the Professor Layton games if you like to torture yourself in a good way, Mario Kart DS just because it's fun, all of the Phoenix Wright games because they're excellent, both of the Advance Wars DS games, and mostly what other people have said. (Besides Partners in Time, that game is horrid compared to Bowser's Inside Story.)

Also, Scribblenauts might seem amazing and such, but trust me, the novelty wears of REALLY quickly.

I don't know whats your taste but, You should try Rune Factory and Rune Factory 2
or one of the Harvest Moon games for the NDS.

If you like the GTA series you should get GTA Chinatown Wars for the DS, I got that game and its pretty wide open, there are 30+ missions (forget the number, but its from 30 to 50 missions) lots of random encounter missions, tons of mini-games such as the vigilante, medic, and noodle run missions, and a huge variety of weapons. The world is pretty huge and there are new things not in the other GTAs such as tattooing, drug selling to make lots of money (buy them when they are low price, sell them at high price) and lots of different cars. Its definitely worth the money.
