Watch this.
Don't read this until you watch it.
[sp]I thought the title said "Best Graphics", not "Most Unique Graphics"[/sp]
It's pretty hard to define "best" when it comes to graphics nowadays, with all the different styles. It's like awarding a piece of art "best looking" there simply can't be one, it's a matter of personal opinion.
Best graphics apply to visual appeal
I'd rather look at epic yarn over the dreary grays and cities of the other entries
Sure the tech isn't behind it but good tech doesn't always mean visually appealing a fully powered game that's just brown and grey like most modern games to me look worse then a low tech game sporting vibrant colors and an appealing design
So props to GT for saying that style is better then substance
Considering every other game on that list looked bleak and uninteresting, I think Epic Yarn deserved to win.

I always figured a game with good graphics was a game that made you say "Shit, this game has good graphics!" I'd say that with Crysis, wouldn't say that with [sp]Kirby: Epic Yarn[/sp].
I expected a cell shaded game to be nominated and win.
Like the new Zelda game.

Graphical appeal is subjective
I'd say "shit that game has good graphics" if the color pallet was nice to look at and had imaginative thought taken into the design
*Epic Yawn*

I dunno, graphics were the last thing I thought of when I saw the game at Nintendo's conference.

I would say that it has a unique style.
Not necessarily graphics.
Gears 3's graphics just looks like the previous games but with green added to the pallete
It still suffers from severe unreal engine-ism

Indeed no one looks at nintendo to be on the cutting edge as far as the power of the tech is concerned so nintendo instead make the best out of their limited tech and focus on the style something I wish more wii devs would do that instead of just making it look crap and going "it's the wii what can we do?"

Funny or agree?
Why the fuck wasn't Gran Turismo 5 nominated
They clearly chose kirby so the internet would rage and they would make tons of money from it.
The only UE3 game that didn't look like it at first glance is still Mirror's edge to be honest :~
Even mass effect scream UE. Which kinda makes Gears 3 look boring.
At least the epic yarn game looks unique

I agree, I would rather see that win, than that piece of shit!
How did I know Epic Yarn would win. The artstyle is interesting but I would give the award to RAGE instead, I just love the painted textures.
Wow, it's not as if Epic Yarn is even that impressive for a 2D game, I've seen shitloads of sidescrollers that look better, e.g Fancy Pants Adventures, which was a fucking flash game.

Looked exactly like Borderlands to me.
Looked exactly like Borderlands to me.
Look again, One's cell-shaded (and does a fucking horrible job of it) and the other is hand-painted.
I'd give the award to Killzone, I have always considered 2 to be the most artistic shooter out there, 3 isn't any different in terms of graphics design
It looks like a movie, I mean come on
Killzone 3 is the only shooter that looks impressive. Crysis 2 looks bland and less impressive than the first game, Gears 3 somehow looks even uglier now that they tried adding color, and Rage does look good but it's basically just a higher res version of Borderlands.
Also, proud to live in the country that Killzone 3 is made in! (Guerrilla games)

AUTOMERGE! :argh:

I love seeing my cars break apart piece by piece! YES, GT5 SHOULD WIN!
The only UE3 game that didn't look like it at first glance is still Mirror's edge to be honest
It took me a while to figure out Frontlines: Fuel of War used UE3.
I like how not a single Valve game has ever been nominated for best graphics :v:
Honestly Epic Yarn looks better then a sea of greys, browns, and sometimes green.

Borderlands is not cell-shaded. All their textures are hand drawn, much like RAGE. They did add effects to make it appear more like a cell-shaded game (eg the black outlines around stuff) but most of the time they're just shaders which you can turn off. The difference between RAGE and Borderlands is just how they decided to draw their textures. If I remember right, for Borderlands they drew (eg coloured pencils or something similar) and in RAGE they went for a painted approach which causes a different appearance.
