• Mass Effect 2: Return of the horrible textures

Does anyone know a good config, for the .ini files, that will fix the horrible Mass Effect textures. I've already played through the first one ignoring the low res eye sore. Not needed to say, but please keep spoiler free.

I have googled. Those configs don't help me. So I need someone who has actually used it. Anyone?
You can double the maximum size of the textures using the Coalesced ini editor, searching for maxtexturesize, changing it to 4096, and rebuilding coalesced. It will still have some bad textures, as this will only take effect if the texture the artists used was larger than 2048.
Did you play Mass Effect 2 and do this?

http://meforums.bioware.com/viewtopic.html?topic=638854&forum=125 3. :colbert:
Except that thread is for ME1 and doesn't really offer any solutions to speak of. Incidentally, ME1 had horrible textures, particularly poor Garrus' face. Which they didn't fix. Ever.
Did you play Mass Effect 2 and do this?
Yeah. It helped a little, but as much as I love me2's artistic direction the textures are pretty bad. Also, edit the shadows in coalesced: ShadowFilterRadius=5 ShadowFilterQualityBias=2 MinShadowResolution=128 MaxShadowResolution=4096 It will look much better.

I want perfection. Or at least maxed out. Can someone get me screenshot of what maxed out is supposed to look like? Also, can you tell me where to find each of these settings?
It takes two seconds to edit the ini and try it out yourself. :\
Wait whut?... I can't find it in BioEngine or BioGame or BioEditor.. Do I add the maxtexturesize=4096 ShadowFilterRadius=5 ShadowFilterQualityBias=2 MinShadowResolution=128 MaxShadowResolution=4096 But you said edit.. so it's already there? Or I add these lines to documents>bioware>masseffect2>Biogame>Config>Gamersettings?
Graphics whore. focus on the gameplay and story, that's what the game is about silly.
Download the program, open it up. Search for the name (the part behind the "=" sign), and edit the value that comes up when you click it to whatever values I posted. Then, go up to "commands" and click "rebuild coalesced". Then launch me2.

Oh, did not see that search bar.
I played the first one ignoring all the crappy textures. That was pretty painful. And once you've played Crysis maxed out it's pretty hard to settle for low textures like ... this.
Enjoy the gameplay instead.
Enjoy the gameplay instead.
Just let me try an fix the graphics, by myself. Please?
Just let me try an fix the graphics, by myself. Please?
What 'cha doing here then?
I mean like.. you not putting me down.
I mean like.. you not putting me down.
I'm not?
Oh ok. Sorry then.
On the serious note: I don't know what config you play on but i thought graphics looked pretty nice on Max, hate motion blur thou but it's a matter of taste.
Graphic whore AND computer illiterate?
So that was not serious. I feel much better now.
So that was not serious. I feel much better now.
1)That was serious because apparently you don't know how to use .ini files. 2) Check your !?.'s please. I feel there is a question mark missing somewhere.
I like Mass Effect.
I like Mass Effect.
Me too. Can you help me find some tweaks to make the game look better?
Me too. Can you help me find some tweaks to make the game look better?
Tried any of the above yet? Or maybe Google?

My armor and clothing textures still look horrible.
Post a screenshot please, so we can see the problem.
The textures were rendered at a low resolution. There really isn't anything you can do to make them better short of retexturing everything by hand. [img_thumb]http://www.abload.de/img/masseffect22010-06-241rand.png[/img_thumb] This is what it will look like with the game "maxed" out.
When I take a screen shot and paste it on Paint it comes out black. I found this on google images. Ignore the face, my in game faces looks real good. But the clothing that's what I'm trying to fix.
