should I play AVP (Aliens vs. Predator Classic 2000) before I even buy the new AVP? story wise?
There is no real story. I would still buy it, as it's epically fun.
Storywise it is different in both games, gameplay both different (as in mechanics and game's different game technology) But i suggest you do play the Old one first, its worth the money
Depends, people who played the classic the played AvP3 were very angry with the controls. So if you still want a kick out of the new, I suggest you wait.
The old one is good fun, I bought it and do not regret it, though I don't like the Predator in it. Everything is very very fast in the original though, it's toned down in the new one.
The original does have the overpowered Spam claw fest aliens that jump around alot in multiplayer.
From what I've heard, you're better off just playing the new one now, and try the old one later.
If you want both, play the new first so you don't get boggled by the control change.
SO there is no story mode in old AVP or this one?
All three of the AvP games have campaigns for each species. I don't think they're connected at all between games, though.

OP, you should definitely try the old ones, you're missing out! They were (and still are) amazingly fun. Go like this: AvP -> AvP Gold -> AvP 2 -> AvP 2 Gold -> the new one :P Try this: Play AvP with all your lights out and your volume turned up to the max, and do the Marine campaign on the Hardest level (this is Key)... get ready to shit a fuckton of bricks ;) I remember one time doing the Marine campaign, the first time I ran into a Predator, down a REALLY dark alley or corner (I think he was like, finishing butchering somebody), I literally shat bricks :geno: That game really scared the shit outta me :v:, so the game was ahead of its time, in a way. I mean, the only game that could do the same to you later on was Doom 3 and F.E.A.R. IIRC.

I find it hard, Maybe cause I'm not playing right. But still I have fun.

I find the story mode for AVP1 stupid as I can't play it properly when running at the speed of light, but multiplayer is alot of fun with a friend in skirmish. Rate me dumb.
I recommend playing AVP2 first.
Out of the two, AVP2 has really the best story, Play the Marine campaign on the hardest setting to really connect youself with the absoloute horror a blip on your motion detector induces.
so I should buy AVP from Steam first before new one?
NO. Not avp classic, Avp 2. You MUST play AVP2 before this. Not because of any storyline linkage or anything, just because the game is fucking awesome.
AVP2 in it's entirety is better.
Play the orginal.
