What is Master Sword: Continued?
Master Sword Continued 1.11 is a mod for Half-Life that takes place in the fantasy land of Daragoth.
It features multiplayer RPG-like gameplay.
:siren:It is not however, an MMORPG.:siren:
Huh?
It's not an MMORPG because
1.) GoldSource couldn't handle that.
2.) It has independent servers.
(Although they have to be verified with FuzzNet. - See "How do characters work?" for more on FuzzNet.)
How do characters work?
The devs at MS chose a special database that they dubbed "FuzzNet", or "FN".
Characters that you create, (up to 3), are stored on this database.
Access to these characters are tied to your STEAM_ID.
:havlat:IF THEY CATCH YOU CHEATING/HACKING, THEY WILL DELETE YOUR CHARACTER:havlat:
How big is the game world?
It's not a seamless world, as GoldSource couldn't handle such a thing.
Instead, Daragoth is split up into numerous maps.
How do map transitions work?
When one person wants to change a map, the server will issue a voting sequence.
One way is finding the entrances to certain maps in certain maps.

Another way is through typing "votemap (name of map here)" in chat. This is not available for secret locations or "Gauntlet-Style) maps.
Do maps have set difficulties?
Yes.
However, don't be dismayed if you see that a map is set for levels 10-15 and you're only, like, level 9 for instance. You could still probably beat some creatures in the map.
Likewise, note that some maps just aren't possible to solo, either.
Will I have a hard time leveling up?
Short answer.
Only if you're stupid.
Trust me, all I did was level up swords and I'm stuck at level 15 with not enough health.
So now I have to grind everything else.
Just make sure you try to keep things even and you'll do fine.
How many maps are there?

Eww... Goldsource.
Fear not! For the MS team is in the process of making a Source version. (Technically a remake of the GoldSource version...)

:siren:They are about 80% done with the mod engine-wise.:siren: (I couldn't seem to find that anywhere but the official forums.
Like I said guys, we need more people playing. It's pretty quiet.

Oh btw, know this is an old mod but yeah... :buddy:

Having trouble figuring out where to start?
- Go and defeat some Giant Rats that are right outside the temple in Edana. (You spawn in the temple.)
-First off, go to Deralia, see how much the Full Knight's Armor costs.
- Grab the Rat hide that some of them drop. (Pick up with X)
- They fetch for one gold if the merchant you're trying to sell it to buys Giant Rat hides.
- Move onto Wild Boars, and get a weapon if you can. (You can find a wild boar on top of the old man's house or in the thornlands.)
-Which brings us to the Thornlands. Defeat Wild Boars here. (There are ferocious ones, don't mess with them unless you can beat them.)
-Experiment with different monsters in the Thornlands to test whether or not you can beat them. (DO NOT get killed and then try to go back and finish the monster off, it usually never works and your just tacking on death penalties...)
-Move on to things that give you gold. They are usually Humanoids, like Orcs, Bandits, even Skeletal Beings. (Press X on there body to see if they hold gold on them.)
- Once you get a good amount, go to Deralia and walk to the Blacksmith. You can now buy the Full Knight's Armor.
-Press Q when you buy it to put it on.
This game is boring as hell imo. I managed to get my hands on some hacked items which made it funner but then I lost them and quit again.

They don't like hacking. I'll add this to the OP.

Somebody needs to do something about that HUD

If you read, I told you that it was out of date on the screenshots. :buddy:
Here is an updated picture:

I tried this game awhile ago, but the lack of players and just boringness playing alone put me off.
My old account has gold source I may try this out.
Installing, want to try.
Used to play this game a lot, it was awesome, but the maps got old after a while, and a lot of the community were a bunch of elitist cunts.
All the close servers have people in them. FFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFf-

Why don't you want to join if they have people in them?
Added suggestion on how to get nice starting armor to the OP.
I've installed and joined
Should be one for HL2
that be amazing if that happened... but lots of work.
this mod is kind of fun if you get in with a good group of players
waiting for master sword: source though
I used to play this quite a bit, and met fellow FP'er Tetsmega playing it too.
Ended up at about level 35 or so before I got too bored with it.
The mid-game is particularly frustrating; levels 30-40 have very few dungeons, so you either have to grind lower areas, grind the same couple of suitable dungeons over and over (bloody skycastle) or team up with higher levelled characters for the harder areas, which tends to be boring as you can't do much without dying.
However, the game is very fun for both lower levels (from about level 10-15 to the mid-game, before that there is only 1 dungeon that maybe a large group of characters between levels 5-10 could do; look for a sewer system in Edana) and the high levels too (levels 40+).
I would also advise joining a clan as soon as possible. I joined with TPoD (a pirate clan) but when I was last playing every clan was made up of good members, and you couldn't go wrong with any of them.

i'll give this a shot.
Whoops. Fixed link to the Source page. :clint:
Didn't they say that FuzzNet was taken down? It was the whole reason I stopped playing.

It switched hands.

Ah, okay then. Have they announced any actual progress on the source mod? I remember that the only posts that section of the forum ever got was "Is this dead?" and no progress at all.

They said that they're about 80% done with the mod engine-wise. They've got all the maps finished and the first monsters put in. They just need aesthetics, models, textures, bugfixes, and new features.

Nice, thanks! I can't believe I gave this mod up for dead.
I thought this mod died?
Played this ages ago. Back when Undameal (sp?) was the last Boss and would actually drop the Grimblade.
Glad to see the Source version is actually worked on.

Because I'm level 1, everyone else is level 30ish.

It's going to be. Actually it's survived quite a few years now. :buddy:

I forgot to mention that this isn't WoW.
Players don't care what level you are, as long as your dedicated to the game.
If a level 21 starts telling you off about your level, about 5 level 30s will tell him off. It's rather nice.
well, i'm currently installing it, will play later.
Can you still use arrows for climbing?
I used to get into the merchants square all the time that way :D.
