• Deus Ex 1 freeze during gameplay

So I am doing the mission where you have to place explosives on certain parts of a ship. The freezing occurs after loading my quicksave, telling me it has nothing to do with the area I am in. This is the only save I have and I am extremely concerned if I would have to restart the game. I have to CTRL+ALT+DEL my way to the Windows options and then launch Task Manager to end the unresponsive program. My specs: Windows 7 64bit nVidia GeForce 8800GTS 512 Intel Core 2 Quad Q8300 2.5GHz 4GB RAM
Does it freeze as soon as you load the save? The only thing I can think of is: Find the save game folder (I think it's in the game directory). Copy the contents to somewhere else. Reinstall the game. Copy saves back. If it still doesn't work, it is probably a problem with the save game.
[QUOTE=Nextil;22931788]Does it freeze as soon as you load the save?[/QUOTE] It freezes after about 3-5 seconds.

[editline=lolol][/editline] You don't happen to have Windows Backup on do you? It stores old versions of your files.

So how do I load up the autosaves then? I never see them in the load menu. [editline]09:57PM[/editline] And no, I don't have Windows Backup on. What about those autosaves?

[QUOTE=Nextil;22932060]I don't think there are autosaves.[/QUOTE] This is fucking ridiculous. Alright, thanks anyway. [editline]10:22PM[/editline] Wonderful news!! I have found a fix for this. 1) Load the buggy save and immediately do a manual non-quicksave. 2) Start a new game with whatever character settings. 3) Quicksave (you should have a manual save at the same point as the quicksave before you do this!) 4) Load the manual save you made earlier. 5) It should be fine and not freeze now. 6) Make plenty of manual saves in the future so you don't have to do this again.
