Best Mario Kart Game? - Games

Hey Facepunch, what is, in your own opinion, the best game in the Mario Kart series?

Mario Kart: Super Circuit

Mario Kart 64 hands down.

I've got some fond memories of the N64 version.

I played DS a shit ton with friends so I'm gonna have to pick that one.

Nostalgia doesn't equate best or fun. Double Dash is rad.

N64 or double dash.. hmmmm.. gonna go for double dash as you could play abit more tactically by swapping guys when they had an item IIRC.

I love MK64.

Double Dash!! will always be my favorite Mario Kart game.

Double Dash, that double kart thing was amazing and epic. It made specials awesome, great strategy to be had. Amazing courses. Though technically speaking I think the DS version would be the best, as it was a greatest hits of sorts.

Either the Mario Kart 64 or Double Dash.

The DS one, played it non-stop when it came out. Fucking "Snaker's" online though.

Double Dash was tons of fun. JUST good enough to beat MK64

I liked Double Dash quite a bit, but MK64 was good too. I also enjoyed the DS version. Didn't even bother with the Wii version. What a waste of money on a console.

Mario Kart: Double Dash!! and Mario Kart:DS.

Spend the most time on Super Mario Kart, although SMK64 is a close second.

Double Dash. 64 would come close to it, I don't really like the newer ones.

Somehow the only one i played (on N64) sucked but it was always fun to beat your friends. Not a game i would play today, but back then it was awesome.

64. Me and my dad still play that game all the time on the Wii Virtual Console.

Used to play Mario Kart on the SNES alot, it was great fun! Now I'm playing it on the Wii and it's just as fun! Those are actually the only 2 games in the series I've played, I like them both but I voted for the org one.

I think MKDS is the best one. It had the tightest control/physics system and had the best courses from previous Mario Karts alongside strong new offerings itself. It also introduced online play, which was pretty awesome. The fact that it kept track of all losses made some people take it way too seriously (pull the plug on their router just before they get whipped), but it was fun when people actually stayed for the whole match and you found someone else at your own skill level. What I really found cool was how it gave each region its own color, so you could tell when you were facing Japanese people or European people. Being an international game it did pretty well with lag correction, too. I played at night often, so most of my opponents were Japanese.

I don't know why I didn't post this first, but my pick is Mario Kart DS. Of all the Mario Kart games I've played (never played the arcade ones) the controls and physics just feel the best. And you can play with up to 7 friends, or online with up to 3 other people. The selection of characters and tracks is pretty decent, too. Also, oh my god, you guys.
