[b]So...what exactly IS Bayonetta?[/b]
Bayonetta is an upcoming video game for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360, developed by Platinum Games in cooperation with Sega, who will publish the title. It's coming from the creator of the Devil May Cry series, Hideki Kamiya. He expects it to breathe new life into the arcade style action games and has said that "Bayonetta will blow the doors off the action genre."
You play Bayonetta, a witch that has been resurrected or revived...or something. Well, that's all we pretty much know at this point. You're a witch with all sorts of fantastical fighting and shooting abilities and powers.

[b]What makes it stand out?[/b]
Well for one, it's highly stylized nature. It intends to be a sensory overload, with an innocent, yet intriguingly, highly sexualized protagonist keeping the player's attention and interest throughout the course of the game. No, it's not exactly what I'd call a sexplotation game like Tomb Raider in the 90s, but it's certainly already turning heads and getting substansial notice. The character "Bayonetta" is quickly becoming iconic.
I mean come on, guns attached to your high heels? Badass. That not enough for you? What about hair that doubles up as clothing and demonic special attacks? Hot and badass at all at once? Well how about suplexing a massive fucking dragon? See this and more in trailers below.

Kamiya warns not to let the gentle-looking female lead fool you, pointing out that Bayonetta is full of "hardcore battle action." Though I think this comes through clearly enough, judging from the Devil May Cry vibe you'll probably get if you've seen any videos or screenshots. And if you haven't, well, keep scrolling!

I am disappointed by the game title, I read the thread title and thought it was some game where you could bayonet people, which happens to be my hands down FAVORITE way to kill ANYONE in ANY game.
