Hey, I'm here to spread the good word of Turok.
"Turok, I know that game. Came out in two-thousa-"
NO.
This is not the game you're looking for.
You see, Turok wasn't always a completely shitty game. Back in the day, it was THE game. It was the first game to spawn N64 LAN parties between my peers, and was really a monolith for console gaming. Let's take a look at the good shit:
Turok: Dinosaur Hunter

I never really got deep into the first of the series. It's based off of a comic book by Acclaim.
Turok 2: Seeds of Evil

Now this one I really got into. The multiplayer was fantastic, and really birthed my first deathmatch play.
Turok: Rage Wars

The best game in the whole fucking series. Battle it out with a shitton of weapons, or unlock new characters. Hell, you could be Raptors, or even a cloud of teddy bears (oh god). The whole game was focused around the awesome multiplayer Seeds of Evil started.
Unfortunately, I never continued the series. We stopped at Rage Wars, and continued playing it even after we bought Evolution. It was just unrivaled.
Then there's "Turok", the 2008 reboot.

It removed everything that made the series great, in favor of a really fucking stupid plot line involving the military. It didn't even have the lovable multiplayer that made the previous installments amazing. This was the biggest disappointment of all time. It has nothing to do with the original comic, and should be treated as a diseased dog. I really hope Acclaim retries rebooting the series, except this time, don't fuck it up.

HOLY SHIT THOSE GRAPHICS ARE AMAZING.

Every pixel of this screen is burned into my brain.

Velociraptor!

Summary: Rage Wars was fucking awesome and Turok (2008) was a giant pile of bullshit.
There was also turok 3 for the N64
which let you play as two other characters.
That one was pretty good.
Truok 2008 was like some kind of random game they just slapped the Turok logo onto to make it a bit more popular. They could have called it something like Jungle crysis and it would have made more sense.
I pretend that Turok (2008) never happened.
Turok Dinosaur Hunter was a great game, if a little bastard hard at times.
Turok 2: Seeds of Evil is arguably one of the best games ever made for the N64. <3 the Cerebral Bore.
Turok Rage Wars was brilliant fleshed out multiplayer package. The Chestburster Gun was wowowowowow. Me and my younger brother loved this game. We got so damn angry when our older brother deleted all our progress :saddowns:
Turok 3: Shadow of Oblivion was a disaster because it took away a ton of things that made the 2nd one so bloody great and replaced it with annoying as shit controls and neutered violence.
BUT! There is another one that was made for the PS2, Gamecube and Xbox, Turok Evolution!
That was pretty good fun because it had some awesome ridiculous over the top weapons (see Rocket Launcher and don't deny it's freaking awesome) that made the games memorable. Though Evolution was ridiculously hard and buggy in spots but I liked it.

I guess you could call me a Turok fanboy, I did spend a fair amount of my childhood playing these games to death.
If I'm not mistaken, Turok 2 was released for the PC. I remember playing the demo for it a long, long time ago.
Turok was the game that made me buy my first ever graphics card for a computer. It wasn't only on the N64, I distinctly remember playing it on PC. Good stuff.

It was, I never saw it though.
N64 version is what I remember playing vividly.
Too bad the PC ports all fucking sucked ass.
So many memories playing the first game on the N64 though.

Was damn awesome for the gamecube in splitscreen...
I used to play turok evolution at my friends house all the time. Fucking love that game
I remember playing Turok Evolution on my old Gamecube. It was pretty much my favorite game. I remember shooting people with poison arrows, becoming a raptor in multiplayer, and going around the zoo, killing everything.
I remember when Turok was good. Oh the glory days - how times have changed.
Turok: Evolution was badass.
Especially with cheats that could make your enemies head's huge and a gun that could fuck up their gravity.
Turok 1 is abandonware now.

Ahh, the PS2 version of this...
The gore... :v:
Missed turok evolution like the thread has told you.
Also ragewars was amazing...yet so hard, the amount of characters you would unlock by unlocking another by unlocking another and completing the game with another...man it was crazy.
Best thing was you could do it with your friend split screen, completing the game and the game would kind of change the rules slightly because it was split screen. I remember unlocking the raptor, he was amazing xD No guns just...claw, pounce and own.
I never did unlock the teddy bear group :(

I remember renting that a few times just for the MP

And the cheats for it.
Turok 2008 is proof that it's hard, yet very possible to make a bad game with dinosaurs in it.
Nostalgia'd when I saw the first image.
Turok evolution was amazing on PSX, I used to shoot enemies with poison arrows and just watch them puke their guts out 5 seconds later
I demand a reboot of Rage Wars that doesn't suck shit.
Either that or an XBLA version, with updated graphics like the Perfect Dark port.
I was just playing Rage Wars last week on the N64. I hate the controls though, but the campaign is fun.
Turok 1 and 2 were fantastic, I think I played the third but I don't remember it.
I loved the second one, I think I still somewhat remember the main cheat from it. It allowed you to co-op bosses and stuff.
The new one is fucking shit, I seriously regret buying it, even if it was only around $20.
You are forgetting Turok 3: Oblivion on N64 (I think that's what it was anyways)
That one was quite awesome, and Evolution for the GC, PS2, and Xbox was quite good too.
I hated Turok 3 it felt like it was missing so much and the weapons just didn't feel right.
Thing with all the Turok games (with the exception of the 2008 version) they are all fantastic and BRILLIANT fun to fuck around with when it comes to the cheats.
I want to play Evolution again now, it had a surprisingly long challenging campaign and I miss it so :frown:
[editline]11:13PM[/editline]
When using the cheats I loved setting enemies on fire with the flame thrower and then using a Dark Matter Cube sucking them all into one big ball and then watching them explode into a shower of flaming giblets.
And don't forget Evolutions weird ass equivalent of the Gravity gun! Fuck me that was a fun gun.
What is the origin of the name Turok?
holy nostalgia... this game was the best, along with 007 goldeneye. I used to play both Turok, and Seeds of Evil, it's like mario to me, and I think I've beaten the game 12 times or more. Sometimes I wish I had my n64 still with me and the game, and replay it... it brings me back so many memories.
The only game that almost relates to this was P.R.E.Y. Because both of these games relates to aliens and native americans, however turok got dinos and P.R.E.Y is more related to Doom 3, but these two games have a similar bond.
