Adding a non-steam game

I tried to add Battlefield2 and Battlefield: sandbox shortcuts to my steam but when I start it up it says a message... (i cant remember the message, it was a while back).

What am i actually supposed to do?

Battlefield games require you to have the CD in to play, even if you add them to steam.

Well, atleast Bad Company 2 works as a non-steam game.

I got the 1.50 patch for bf2. It lets you play the game and all addons without the CD.

I have added Battlefield 2 on steam and with CD it works just fine.

Well cd or not thats not my point. How do I add it? Do I just add the shortcut of bf2?

Are you trying to register it with Steam using the CD key? You can't.

How about you tell us the error message so we can actually help you rather than forcing us to try and guess your problem?

I mean, really. Is it so hard to go onto Steam and double click the shortcut you made just so you can tell us what the problem is?

Well first of all my game is already registered and its non-steam. I was trying to add a shortcut to the non-steam games so i can see the steam interface.

It was a error because i was using a deleted mod, but when i try to add a shortcut i press browse and the shortcut doesnt appear where it actually is.

You have to add .exe not shortcut

ok but do you know if the sandbox mod has the exe in it? i looked under battlefeilds >mods for the exe and i couldnt find it.
