I've looked at the Steam Downtime forum, and they say the servers should be good. And yet, no matter what game I play on Steam, it will be unable to contact any server after the appropriate number of retries.
I've tried with and without my firewall activated (ZoneAlarm), and it seems to make no difference. My download rate is appropriate for my internet speed, my router is set up as it should be with a very large port range forwarded to my computer (it had a preset for Steam that even included 27015! ^-^) and everything else I can think of is fine (I even have my router set so my connection bypasses it), but I just cannot connect. Even Left 4 Dead and Left 4 Dead 2 are affected. It's bothering me.
The only thing I can think of that might have done this is that I got a new 500GB hard drive and decided to move all my games to that, including steam. I installed steam to there normally, but I believe I dragged and dropped the games themselves to the drive before uninstalling Steam from my main drive.
