Plymouth, MI - February 18, 2010 - Stardock has pulled back the curtain on ImpulseTV, the latest major feature to come to the popular digital distribution platform, Impulse (www.impulsedriven.com). Hosted by Jason Ocampo, formerly of IGN and Gamespot, and Brian Clair, formerly of Avault.com, ImpulseTV is designed to let people see games and software as they really are in order to get a better idea of whether they want to buy it or even try out the software. ImpulseTV features hands-on walk-throughs, game tutorials and tips, spotlights and demos on AAA and indie games alike, unbiased and outspoken expert commentary and more.
"There's a lot of real gems out there that people would normally never hear about," said Ocampo. "With ImpulseTV, we hope to shed some light on great games - both famous and unknown."
Stardock continues its tradition of revolutionary digital download platform features with ImpulseTV, adding an innovative social networking aspect to the platform's latest feature. ImpulseTV easily finds online friends with similar gaming tastes and fans will be able to view who has downloaded games featured on an episode of ImpulseTV, chat with them, participate in discussions stemming from each episode, or decide to purchase the game – all from the ImpulseTV episode screen.
CEO of Stardock Brad Wardell states, "We will be constantly enhancing the features of ImpulseTV over the course of the next year. With ImpulseTV, fans obtain access to intelligent, honest conversations about games and everything they might need to make a decision about purchasing that game - everything from video, commentary, online friends who have that game, chats, discussions and more all in one. It really enhances the Impulse package as a whole and I'm proud of what the team has accomplished."
With Impulse, users purchase their game and can then immediately download and install the game through the Impulse client which seamlessly manages updates, community features and more. Games become part of that user's account such that when a user purchase a new machine, a user can simply re-download the Impulse client, logon to their account and re-download all their purchases, even years into the future. I never expected them to make something like this. Certainly gives them something different over STEAM.
It's up and running on Impulse right now.
Oh snap! I knew that Jason Ocampo was working there, but they (they being stardock) told me he was there to help impulse pick out new big game hits! Damn!

Also expect Steam TV pretty soon :v:
Before Steam fanboys start shitting up the thread: We are all on the same side guys.
I like Impulse because you just download the game and play it whenever you want, you don't need to have Impulse Downloader running to play the games.
Oh yeah I like impulse for that too :P
Don't think me a steam fanboy from my comment,

that's me poking fun at how steam copies impulse (I DON'T MEAN THAT AS "Herp they're both digital distribution so one copied the other" BUT you can thank impulse for weekend sales)

Steam did weekend sales a long time before Impulse.

That's pretty sweet. I hate how Steam has to fire up and run in the background. It's especially annoying when I remove a game from Control Panel and it has to fire up Steam, only to freeze indefinitely and forces me to End Task.
ObjectDock is still the best thing to come out there. This seems interesting but I don't know how useful it is.

What's your point? Are you complaining that other companies do things that only benefit us? You sir, are a hateful bigot.
Also a fucking Steam fanboy. I fucking love how I can actually install my games where I want and play them without impulse running in the background and not be forced to patch my games.
Also Impulse does some things better than Steam, but I still like Steam for it's community features and vast amount of games to buy and their great weekend deals that should be copied by more people.

What? He was replying to someone who said Impulse copied Steam's sale idea.

Way to overreact.
This looks kind of cool. I've never used Impulse but I might get Sins and it's expansions on it.

Steam's been using the media function forever, but there is only one non game related vid there. Zombie Movie.
I wish that more vids were there, but its not a necessary function thanks to things like youtube.

I never got this, how is steam running in the background an issue?
I never got this, how is steam running in the background an issue?
Because people with computers from 2004 think it's a resource hog.
Note: My PC is from 2004.

I never got this either, I have Steam come up on start up and play put all my non-Steam games on it.

I installed Steam into my "Vidya" folder and now all my vidya is in my Vidya folder. Your arguments are stupid.
Just need to keep adding new shows to watch now.
They're only making this due to the fact that Valve has neglected SourceTV in their most recent titles.

This is nothing like SourceTV in the slightest...
