Quake 3 Team Arena health problem

So, I just installed and played Quake 3 Team Arena. I have one big problem. I spawn with 30 health, and they start to count down.I mean what the heck?

Is there solution to this?

You sure it's not 300?
You start with more health than normal, it's a sort of spawn protection.

It counts down, like megahealth.
