Toribash on the Wii has finally gotten a release date, and it's sooner than you think!
For those of you who don't know what Toribash is, It's a turn-based, physics-driven fighting game featuring dismemberment, gore, strategy, and plenty of fun.
Confirmed by the CEO of Nabi Studios on the official IRC Server today, Toribash Wii is being released on July 9th in the EU, and [Hopefully, Nintendo US has yet to confirm] on July 12th in the US! It's going to cost 1000 Wii Points to purchase, and will be available only through the Wii Shop channel.

[04:27] <@Lapsus> so around 1000 points then?
[04:28] <@hampa> yes, 1000 points
For those of you wondering, the Wii version features an entirely rewritten engine, a new "joint boost" mechanic, where you can hold a joint/limb back for a number of turns to build up power, to release it all at once for devastating blows, and some cosmetic additions, such as hair.
Personally, I'm going to be waiting eagerly next to my Wii at 11:59pm on the 11th. Anyone else buying this?
the PC version went to shit at 3.0, wii version's controls will be byzantine and hard to navigate
so no
I was wondering when they'd release it. But I can have it free on my computer, why bother buying it for the wii?
plus everyone who buys it will be completely new players, and toribash has a massive learning curve so noone will be a challenge for at least a year or so on the wii

Yes, to be fair, the community went to shit soon after 3.0, mainly because it became freeware. You start giving away a reasonably awesome game and expect the internet NOT to flood in?
I can't personally comment on the controls, as I've not had the opportunity to fly to Singapore simply to test a game, but everyone I've talked to that has played it seems to like the controls. Of course there's going to be an adjustment period, but that's true of any PC game that's gone to console.

Except for all the people who've been playing for years, and want to see what the new engine offers in terms of gameplay abilities and new mechanics, or the staff that're waiting in the wings, ready to tear of some heads after release.

Same situation with Cave Story.
Can you imagine that the game would be controled with something like nathal? I mean flexing your abs, bending your knees...
