• AvP3: A major dissapointment

I was expecting a lot from this game, I was expecting the same, if not more fun from what AvP2 delivered. What I got was far from that. List of things I really hated: 1. Shitty lobbies 2. Quick match that isn't so quick. 3. Lack of fun, lasting game modes. 4. Incredibly short campaigns with little intuition put into them. 5. NO LIFE CYCLE, GOD DAMMIT. 6. Stupid graphic glitches, like predator cloak and blood puffs showing up through walls. 7. Horrible optimization. 8. NO FUCKING LIFE CYCLE. 9. Removal of the majority of stuff that made AvP2 fun. 10. Terribly thought out weapon balance. (Flamethrower that is about as effective as a toothpick) 11. Feels like a console port Thoughts?
I think the megathread is a good place for this.
Shit man, it's all those damn consoles fault.
Short campaign disappointed me a lot. Want to stalk humans as a predator and hunt them? Well fuck you, instead go fight aliens that can see you and are not even fun to fight against. Alien escape was also dumb. Power went out, durr aliens go free now. Really, they are so advanced and yet a power outage can free a highly dangerous subject?
I haven't even installed my game yet and I'm already discouraged to install it. Should I?
I haven't even installed my game yet and I'm already discouraged to install it. Should I?
Hope you aren't being serious.
Please tell me they have said they'll add life cycle and there are plenty (or at least good) of multiplayer maps (more than 4-5 like DoW2 had).
Hopefully more will come in forms of patches and updates.
The game shouldn't need patches to make it good, it was a failed delivery.
I'm still waiting for Colonial Marines.
Hope you aren't being serious.
I am, actually.
Thanks for your opinion, I will now return to playing a AvP because I consider it awesome.
I think it's fine. Just a few things I will want is a few more maps, get the dedicated servers working as I see like 4 games being hosted that me and my friend can't connect to and some more maps for survivor as that is fucking fun. The campaign is cool so far, no graphics glitches here..runs great, doesn't feel like it needs optimizing, I had random stutter every 5 mins but I fixed that by updating my graphics drivers. All good. Also there's room in the menu for DLC so, hopefully they won't take too long adding shit.
Optimization is shit, too, I gotta agree. So slow when you start up the game, and it takes ages to fix it'self. And in parts of the level, your game goes all jumpy for no reason, and it pisses me off.

I could tell they'd make it a console port. The demo felt so console-ish... But I don't have the full game yet so... :ohdear:
As said above, I have had no problems playing this. No glitches, no textures fuck ups, and no optimization issues. It must be your computers that can't play it.
I am, actually.
So you're honestly considering not installing it at all because of the opinions of a few guys on a forum?

First of all, i encountered little, IF ANY graphical glitches or any glitches at all, only one glitch that only required me to relaunch the game and now it doesnt even happen anymore. Secondly, WHAT THE FUCK ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT, SHORT CAMPAIGNS? I spent damn near 6 hours on the marine campaign alone. Lack of intuition? Do you even know what that word means? Lack of fun and lasting game modes? Seriously, are you even playing the same game? Theres 7 game modes and 3 of those are infinitely replayable and could easily replace alot of common mod types for Half life and unreal such as infection and survival. Horrible optimization? I don't know about you, but i'm playing with 4 year old pc gear with 3.5gb's of RAM and i can run the game on a pretty high resolution, normal textures, low shadow compelxity, with screen space ambient occlusion and get anywhere from 25 - 40 FPS. Why in the world would anybody want that shitty life cycle bullcrap, running around a base looking for a specific target, and when you get the WRONG target, you instantly die and have to restart all the fucking way back... What the hell was so fun about that, which everyone keeps saying is so great? I dont know... Removal of the majority of things that made AVP2 fun? Hmmm, how can i put this bluntly... AVP2 WAS NOT, that good of an AVP game at all... It's singleplayer was good for one run-through but then it all just got stale and repetitive after that, whereas with the ORIGINAL 1999 avp, that is endlessly replayable on SP alone just because of how dynamic and random the AI is. And just to let all you AVP2 fans aware, THERE IS a pounce function in AVP2010, when your an alien, focus on prey with shift then press space bar, you'll do a leap attack that knocks down your prey. Also, DEDICATED SERVERS, ARE, COMING, Rebellion never said they would ship it with the game though. Also ALIEN SPOILER ALERT - For all of you trying to figure out the exact order of the story, from earliest to latest in the game world, it goes, Alien, Predator, Marine. Also, in the beggining, when the predator blows up the human ship the Marlo, he also killed the queen you turn into after you beat the alien campaign as there are 2 reasons fro this conclusion, 1, it was shipped up to the craft via dropship and 2, you could hear marines saying "coming out you mother fucker" when the predator zoomed in on the spaceship and listened in on it's audio, meaning that the aliens had infested the ship and they could only populate so quickly with a female onboard and it showed your alien transform into the queen. SPOILER. I'm telling you this because i heard someone in the other AVP thread saying they wanted bonus missions where you play as the queen. SPOILER. And finally..... THIS DOES NOT FEEL LIKE A GOD DAMN CONSOLE PORT AT ALL, NOT ONE THING ABOUT IT FEELS CONSOLIFIED. that is all...
I was expecting a lot from this game, I was expecting the same, if not more fun from what AvP2 delivered. What I got was far from that. List of things I really hated: 1. Shitty lobbies They're not THAT bad 2. Quick match that isn't so quick. Thats because almost everyone has it on Console, or You live in a time zone that barely has anyone playing 3. Lack of fun, lasting game modes. Now this is a outright lie, Of all the matches I played the game modes were pretty fun, but I guess it depends on the map 4. Incredibly short campaigns with little intuition put into them. The meat of the game is MP 5. NO LIFE CYCLE, GOD DAMMIT.They couldn't find a way to include it, but it may come as DLC later onare you playing as alien? becuase if so its not a glitch, if not then you seem to be the only one getting this 6. Stupid graphic glitches, like predator cloak and blood puffs showing up through walls. 7. Horrible optimization. What the fuck are you talking about, If you're trying to run this on four year old low end hardware then sure, But my 8800GT runs it pretty damn fine on DX10 8. NO FUCKING LIFE CYCLE. 9. Removal of the majority of stuff that made AvP2 fun. the only thing major that was removed were classess, and a few weapons, And a great Melee system took their place along with trophy+stealth kills and a better and smoother movement system for aliens and preds 10. Terribly thought out weapon balance. (Flamethrower that is about as effective as a toothpick) Game just released give them a break, they'll balance things out soon enough 11. Feels like a console port No, Really? Thoughts?
See above, also i agree with the above poster about AVP2, AVP1999 was much better.
See above
Wait, huh? DX10? How do you run on DX10? I only see options for DX9 and DX11... Or is "Launch game" the DX10 mode?
What do you guys mean when you say theres no life cycle? (my copy is arriving tomorrow)
What do you guys mean when you say theres no life cycle? (my copy is arriving tomorrow)
Feature from older AvP games. If you don't know what it is you probably won't care.
Wait, huh? DX10? How do you run on DX10? I only see options for DX9 and DX11... Or is "Launch game" the DX10 mode?
DX10 settings will automatically be unlocked if you launch the Direct X 11 one, and when you just choose the general one, it chooses the DX 11 one unless you don't have dx 10 hardware.
So you're honestly considering not installing it at all because of the opinions of a few guys on a forum?
I bet he downloaded it illegally, if I bought a game I would play it even if it was shit since I BOUGHT IT.

I think that it was made for consoles for one sole reason. They changed the alien wall climb to a single click. Why would they possibly change a flawless mechanic that was in the previous game? I don't own AvP3 though I own all the older ones. From the demo I felt like it was a more console intended shooter, and while this is not necessarily a bad thing, I would have preferred it for PC.
It's like a step backwards. They bring us better graphics, but lackluster gameplay. No fucking Join-in-progress No fucking dedicated servers that they SAID would be included in the retail. (They are, however, on their way with "reduced functionality"). Matchmaking? Really? Don't treat us PC users as Console-kiddies. No classes. No SDK/Map editor. That's right - if you want new maps, you gotta buy 'em. They basically stripped features from the previous game, added some flashy graphics and charged us top-dollar for it.

I've never played them.
