Just got back from seeing project NATAL, as it is the first time being shown live in england (i think). (If this is in the wrong section could a mod please move it?) First off: video of my dad playing it I don't have any videos of me playing but i have a few pictures and i'll upload the other videos and pics i took later. Right now it's still in developement and this is a very early model but from what i've been told they hope to release around october. The game being demo'd is a strange test where you smack a ball at bricks at the end of hallway, like a strange brick-break game but 3D. Allot of press and TV hosts/etc where there aswell so expect to see footage of this on most english (and maybe american) gadget and game shows soon. Will update when other video is finished uploading. MaximusisMax is informative.
Jealous.
Awesome, another Giga King informational thread. Thanks Giga King! I agree with your comment in the last second of the video. EDIT: I can smell this going to Digg again.
Awesome, another Giga King informational thread. Thanks Giga King!
You're welcome, sexy.
Interesting. Your dads still a jerk, but a cool jerk none the less. :v:
awesome. was it easy to play?
You're welcome, sexy.
We missed you, Giga King. <3
awesome. was it easy to play?
I would say yes if i wasn't so horribly unfit. It's hard at first but you get the hang of it, however i got tired after jumping around frantically for a while.
I would say yes if i wasn't so horribly unfit. It's hard at first but you get the hang of it, however i got tired after jumping around frantically for a while.
Bah. Guess I'll start working out then. Maybe ride my bike a tiny bit faster when going to school. That's all I am willing to do.
Bah. Guess I'll start working out then. Maybe ride my bike a tiny bit faster when going to school. That's all I am willing to do.
Stop playing WoW. Okay I'm kidding, I'm starting it up again this week. :(
Stop playing WoW. Okay I'm kidding, I'm starting it up again this week. :(
Hey, playing WoW doesn't mean you are fat. I'm not fat. I'm comfortably rolled.
Maybe it's just me, but the response time looks horribly laggy, which appears to be why your dad failed to hit most of the balls.
Hey, playing WoW doesn't mean you are fat. I'm not fat. I'm comfortably rolled.
I'll just look at the Battlecry pictures again. Okay I kid, yeah not everyone who plays WoW is fat. You're cool, Marla. <3 Thread re-rail: I don't really like this whole NATAL thing, it's as Yahtzee said; I don't want to get tired playing a videogame, I don't want to have to wave my arms around like a madman, I just want a controller or keyboard+mouse and I'm set.
Maybe it's just me, but the response time looks horribly laggy, which appears to be why your dad failed to hit most of the balls.
Yeah, this is still an early version so lag is still an issue but by release they intend to have it lag free.
Looks pretty good, how's that stalker doing Giga?
Looks pretty good, how's that stalker doing Giga?
Who now?
Project Not at all. Just kidding, looks pretty promising so far. Just depends on how well the game developers decide to treat it, so it doesn't end up as a constant stream of mini-games (See: Nintendo Wii)
Your dads p sweet. lol Is there any estimated release for PN? I haven't seen anything yet.
Is your dad... Because he sounds very similar and i remember someone posting before (who was Ross's son) saying he got to try spore. Yeah that was you. Awesome. Edit : I should be a detective.

Can't even be bothered trying to find the thread.
Shit, think I will have to reposition my TV when it comes out D:
Did they even explain how this works? Your dad doesn't seem to have anything a camera can recognise on him to control it.
Did they even explain how this works? Your dad doesn't seem to have anything a camera can recognise on him to control it.
Camera recognises him...
Did they even explain how this works? It uses IR to tell living creatures apart from innanimate objects.
Did they even explain how this works? Your dad doesn't seem to have anything a camera can recognise on him to control it.
Natal uses 2 cameras from slightly different angles, they pick up light difference and IR to build a 3d model from the combined camera angles and distinguish organic things from objects, so you can pretty accurately get a 3d sillhouette. It's very clever tech but i really don't want to flail my arms around to play a game.
IR camera on the left of the device, 2 normal cameras for depth in the center and right side of device. It uses IR to tell living creatures apart from innanimate objects.
Pretty fucking if you say...decided to play it in a pet shop?
Pretty fucking if you say...decided to play it in a pet shop?
They are adding built in human anatomy so it can easily tell humans apart from, say, dogs. One of the concept videos mentioned that it can track single people so even if you're playing and i walk infront of you, it will still be tracking you and wont pay attention to me. Same goes for animals, if a dog runs infront of you it wont think you have just snapped your legs off and sent them running across the room. If my memory serves me it tracks 32 points on the human body. However there are ways to confuse it, i hid my arm behind my back and then lent backwards and it made me snap my leg up to my face before i did a backflip back to standing position.
Oh right. Seems as though it's going to be a bit expensive for how long the novelty of jumping around your room like a prat is still appealing.
