• Why do game developers remove debug cheats?

Remember how games used to often have debug modes, left over from when they were being developed? Now that it's more easily removed from the final version, the final version doesn't usually have the debug mode anymore, or if it does it needs some kind of patch or cheat device (like an Action Replay) to activate it. But why can't the developers just leave it in there? Honestly, has anyone ever accidentally activated the debug mode in Sonic 2? (options, sound test, 19, 65, 09, 17, start, a+start at title screen, sound test, 01, 09, 09, 02, 01, 01, 02, 04, level, a+start) It's not like someone would activate it and get confused, thinking their game's broken. And it adds a lot of replay value. Why do the developers have to ruin our fun by removing something they don't think we need? They don't even have to go to the trouble of changing it to remove glitches—debug modes often cause plenty of glitches, and they're still fun to play with. it's unprofessional to leave your product incompleted
it's unprofessional to leave your product incompleted
The product's completed, it's just that stuff is left over. And honestly, we're talking about video games. Since when is being "professional" more important than how much people enjoy your game?

Everyone else is a bunch of greedy pigs after our wallets. :downs:
Do you know what a debug mode is? It's generally for finding bugs easily and other useful information. It's not for spawning powerups or whatever is happening in that screenshot.

But their games always rocks(except Ricochet)
I wish developers included cheat codes in their games these days. Nothing beats the novelty of big head mode.
