Are there any video games with actual awards now days? Yeah, I know there a several multiplayer games with cash awards, but is there anything as epic as this?

Other than gaming tournaments, no. It'd be so great to have a game like Sword Quest today.
I've seen several "board game puzzles" (in lack of a better word) with nice cash prizes, but video games, sadly not.
Desert Bus. I don't think they actually gave the awards out though.
