Harmonix sees through the Purple Haze:Hendrix in Rock Band
The ultimate guitar hero, Jimi Hendrix, will soon have his own "Rock Band" video game.
Jimi Hendrix's stepsister, Janie Hendrix, who controls the late guitar god's estate, let it slip during an L.A. Times interview that a Hendrix edition of "Rock Band" will be coming before the end of the year.
The statement was made while discussing the impact of Sony Music's licensing deal for the Hendrix master recordings last year. "At the time the deal was completed," read the article. "Sony vowed to make his music 'available through every type of media' -- including a new edition of 'Rock Band' that Janie Hendrix says should appear before the end of this year."
Officials at "Rock Band" publisher MTV Games or developer Harmonix did not respond to requests for comment by press time. The company in December announced its next artist-based game would be focused on Green Day, with a treatment similar to that of "the Beatles: Rock Band" in which various elements of the band's career and development are chronicled. It's unclear whether the Harmonix team has the resources to do both a Green Day and Hendrix special edition in the same year.
However coming out with a Hendrix game this year makes the most sense. There's certainly no shortage of Hendrix-related material coming out in the coming months as the 40th anniversary of his death approaches this fall. In March, Sony Music will put out a collection of previously unreleased studio recordings, and a special edition iPod Touch bearing the artist's image is also in the works.
A Hendrix track pack or a full on game like The Beatles Rock Band who knows? I know one thing it'll blow Green Day Rock Band out of the water
I was sad when they announced Green Day Rock Band.
They better not become like Guitar Hero.
they'll butcher it
Still no Rock Band: Rush.
Something is wrong with Harmonix.
Where the fuck is Rock Band Muse, even with MTV's support throughout the last few months for The Resistance, it still hasn't happened.
Harmonix already stated they for sure aren't making a Hendrix Rockband game, and they are hoping to get some DLC at best.
It's probably just some DLC.
I'd rather a Rockband: Iron Maiden
where is the who
damn it

I'd settle for another Iron Maiden pack.
No, needs their own full game.
technically rock band has had hendrix for awhile. Fire was in lego rock band, and I think that could be imported to rb2.
One does not simply play Hendrix with five colored buttons and a paddle. :colbert:
Still waiting for a huge Yes trackpack. With the amount of full blown songs they could make their own game.
Also, where the hell is my Queen trackpack/game?
I want some Mars Volta
I'm probably not going to buy it because I'm still waiting for the Rick James Rock Band.
"She's a super freak, a super freak!" *pretends to play guitar* *snorts coke*
"Yeeeaah..."
give in and buy a real one so you can play any song you want, that's what I did. except I was way into GH not RB
They should release one game ($25.00-$30.00) with a huge database of songs to buy / download.
I think they need to add some more blues, usually they only have like 1 or 2 songs, and non of them are actual blues. I'm not talking about 20's delta blues now, though, I'm talking about 50's rock & roll, 60's and 70's bluesrock.

I totally agree. Rock Band: Rush would be epic.
Rock Band has gone down the shitter.
Hendrix doesn't really have that many songs, he only released 3 or so albums before he died. And then one was released a few days ago which contained a little bit of unheard stuff.
As I always say, this shit is getting ridiculous, seriously, who is still even buying this shit anymore? Guitar Hero came out, I had it, nobody knew about it then. Guitar Hero II came out, some more people started to get into it. Number 3 came along, everybody knew it, and then it suddenly died off. I knew a couple of people who had Rock Band, and one person who had Guitar Hero 4. Nobody even notices these fucking games anymore, they're just getting more and more retarded.

You could be able to add a bunch of earlier blues songs and records that inspired him, such as B.B. King.
