Depot is a mod inspired by VALVe's book "Raising the Bar" and concept-arts. This is redesigned part of Half-Life 2 levels - coastline and prison, but now it's a bit closer to old atmosphere of a dead, dried by Combine, world. Player find himself in a wasteland, on a floor of a dried sea,and tried to find a way to island, where was a prison, and now - Combine Depot. yeah Gamefront is blocking a bunch countries from downloading for their servers. So once its out if someone can make another mirror that would be swell. And for some reason my part of Canada is blocked, the Gamefront says Canada is allowed to download but I can't download anything without using a Proxy.

I am personally a big 3D Skybox enthusiast. I think well-made skyboxes are sexy, especially if they blend seamlessly with the playable map. The Wasteland's environment was so beautiful I instantly came many times the maximum amount I should normally be physically able to come, almost flooding the Himalayas in my semen. That's how awesome it was.

Uh, which big pit? Also, I personally kind of think those rocks in the wasteland are actually a little [I]too[/I] green.

I love the oil rigs out in the skybox.

I just downloaded and played the mod. It looks nice, but plays terrible.
Holy shit the aesthetics in this mod are so fucking terrible.
I really noticed quite a few problems with the mod that bring it down. Visual-wise? It's really very good, and the depot part played very well. My main gripes with the mod are the submarine, which was ridiculously dark and I had no idea where I was going because it was too dark, and there were no indications of stairs or anything. The antlion caves felt tacked on and seemed out of place under the wasteland there (Originally, they were just before the depot, so while they are linked, they're a little further back than that.) The submarine was really what brought down the mod in my eyes.
I thought the sub would have been okay if it had some low level colored lighting. I kinda liked the simple puzzle in it, but that's probably because I got lucky and found the place to complete it pretty quickly. What I didn't like was how you enter the sub. There was no clear visual indication that you could interact with it, and I ended up going through some badly placed clip brushes and almost skipping the sub as a result. And the antlion guard, I didn't know you weren't supposed to kill it in the caves so I unloaded on it and ended up having no ammo. I thought the Gunship fight was pretty well done, I liked in particular how it destroyed the ground underneath you at the top of the lighthouse, but I've yet to get to the actual Depot part. But holy fuck that skybox. THAT SKYBOX
I'm going to pull up images of the e3_depot in the original beta, soon, give me a second shit, gotta download patches for the beta, so make that around 5 minutes
Thank you all for your opinion, I want to say a couple things: 1) I feel a need in a patch - fix map holes, add some kind of light in a submarine (it can be a bit problematic, because whole sub is a model with a lot of models inside), etc... 2) make navigation in wasteland more "friendly". And i've got a question: what if "bad navigation" is not my fail, what if it was planned? I wanted to make player feel himself like he is really in wasteland, not in a corridor. Yes, it's not like original HL gameplay style. Yes, no obvious indication (but I think, when you see a giant submarine or island among wasteland, you know where you should go?..). (SOME SPOILERS AHEAD!) I wanted to bring some "exploration" gameplay, and add some hidden things (do you find hollow stone with two levels? or seamine? do you pass wasteland in most short way, by oilpipe?) Waiting for your comments!
