Generic shooter? The shooting in Fallout 3 is barely shooting, it's more like playing the lottery - you have about the same percentage chance of hitting someone with a sniper rifle from 50m away, no matter where you aim.
no, it's pretty damn generic.
Stalker series is definitely your best bet.
Stalker games can also be exceptionally beautiful with one of the many graphic overhaul modes. Makes them look better than some current gen games.
Is rogue-like games an option?

It's similar in that, you're in a desolate place after a disaster (Chernobyl Disaster and Nuclear warfare) and there's mutants. Oh, and you have guns and there's bandits. That is it.
