Company of Heroes is a real-time strategy computer game developed by Relic Entertainment. It was released on September 12, 2006, and was the first title to make use of the Games for Windows label. A standalone expansion, Opposing Fronts, was released on September 25, 2007. A second standalone expansion, Tales of Valor was released in April 2009. The game was released as a free-to-play download in South Korea in April 2010.(I don't understand why worst korea gets it and not best korea)
Pretty much Company of heroes Is a really good WW2 RTS and is Relic's best game. Lets walk threw the four games:

The first company of heroes was alright here's a little bit from good ole wikipedia:Company of Heroes is set during World War II. In the single-player campaign the player commands two U.S. military units during the Battle of Normandy and the Allied liberation of France. Depending on the mission, the player controls either Able Company of the 29th Infantry Division or Fox Company of the 101st Airborne's 506th PIR.

Company of Heroes: Tales of Valor is a real time strategy video game stand alone expansion pack to Company of Heroes. It was announced on November 3, 2008 and was released on April 9, 2009. Most people are confused on what it adds to the game. All it adds is 3 campaigns and 3 new game modes.
Fractions:
USA:
The United States of America is a Allied force featured in Company of Heroes. The American force has three major companies which earn command points through combat experience such as building structures and fighting enemy units. The three companies are:I)Infantry Company: Choosing this company allows infantry and support weapon units to rapidly respond and deploy. This company also allows basic infantry such as Riflemen Squads to build simple defenses such as sand bags and barbed wire and allows Engineer Squads to build the 105mm howitzer.
II)Airborne Company: Choosing this company will allow you to access the Paratroopers, a group of elite infantry that can drop behind enemy lines. This company also provides airdropped support weapons and supplies. P-47 Thunderbolt strafing runs and bombardment become available through this company.
III)Armor Company: This company emphasizes building up armor strength. Choosing this company allows you to repair all American vehicles without Engineer Squads and replaces them quickly if destroyed in combat. This company also allows light and medium vehicles such as M3 Half-Tracks and Jeeps to capture strategic points. Sherman Calliopes and the slow but powerful M26 Pershing heavy tank can only be deployed through this company
British: The British forces were one of the major Allied forces acting during World War II. They support a defensive playstyle with many powerful, stationary emplacements. Many gamers find a useful tactic is to build up a large complex of these stationary weapons, just out of reach from the enemy while allowing ranged bombardment of enemy attackers and positions. This is more commonly known among the CoH community as a 'Sim City' - where the British player focuses more on building extravagant defences and holding the victory points encompassed in the defended region. There are three different tactics for the British: Royal Engineers Support, Royal Artillery Support, Royal Commandos Support.
Axis:
Wehrmacht: The armed forces were very different to the Allied forces. Unlike the Allies, which utilized infantry or vehicles in lower cost but in larger numbers, the Wehrmacht used small, expensive but highly trained,well-equipped and technologically advanced units on the battlefield. Their infantry such as the Grenadiers, the Stormtroopers and the Pioneers are smaller in numbers compared to the Allies' infantry such as the Riflemen. Although small in numbers, they made up for it in their superior combat capabilities. As the Wehrmacht is the major part of the German Armed Forces, they have some of the most advanced weapons and tactics in the games capable of overwhelming even the most numerous enemies. Tanks such as the Panzer IV, Panther and Stug IV are some of the Wehrmacht's most fearsome weapons. The Wehrmacht is also armed with some of the most advanced weapons of its time, from the unusual but devastating suicide bomb robot like Goliath to the terrorizing V1 Flying Bombs.Similar to the Company Commander, the Wehrmacht itself also featured three types of Doctrines:
I) Defensive Doctrine- This doctrine emphasizes building hardened defense to repel the enemies. All their structures can be upgraded with anti-infantry defense, and the player is granted a variety of artillery strike abilities. This doctrine also allows them to construct the most fearsome 88mm Flak 36 cannon.
II) Blitzkrieg Doctrine- This is one of the most popular doctrines, as it emphasizes fast armored warfare to overwhelm the enemies. This doctrine allowed the Wehrmacht to field powerful tanks such as the StuH 42 (a tank well suited to urban assaults, similar to the Stug IV) and the famous and feared Tiger tank. This doctrine also can use special abilities such as Blitztkrieg assault, in which many units are given a large temporary speed boost.
III) Terror Doctrine- This doctrine is designed to demoralize the enemies with unconventional tactics and terrorizing weapons. The player is granted access to the V1 Flying Bombs, which can bombard the enemy, and the incendiary Firestorm air strike to scourge the enemies. This doctrine also can call in the Tiger Ace tank (Company of Heroes only) or the mighty and the most fearsome tank King Tiger (if both Company of Heroes and Opposing Fronts are installed).
Panzer Elite:
The Panzer Elite draw their inspiration from the mish-mash of German units that opposed Operation Market Garden, including the 2nd SS Panzer Corps and Luftwaffe paratroopers. The single player campaign for this faction focuses on this battle. The German Panzer Elite division named Kampfgruppe Lehr is based on Panzer Lehr Division and other Kampfgruppe Divisions that participated during Operation Market Garden. Kampfgruppe (German military term) refers to an ad-hoc combined arms formation, usually employing a combination of tanks, infantry, anti-tank weapons and artillery components. The Panzer Elite mainly focuses on speed and vehicles. They cannot build static defenses apart from a few doctrine-specific heavy weapons. Instead, they rely on the use of halftracks and similar light vehicles to hold territory and increase resource income. Unlike other players' halftracks, Panzer Grenadiers can fire heavy weapons, such as Panzerschrecks, MP44 assault rifles, and mortars from inside the vehicle. However, since the Panzer Elite halftrack doesn't have a closed top the infantry inside are vulnerable to enemy fire. Panzer Grenadiers are also unique for being able to upgrade to use Gewehr 43 semi-automatic rifles, MP44 assault rifles, or Panzerschreck anti-tank weapons. Since there are no form of engineers in the Panzer Elite, all Panzer Grenadiers are capable of repairing vehicles, albeit at a slower rate than other armies engineersPanzer Elite consist of three tactics similar to the Company Commander, they are:
Scorched Earth Tactics Edit
The Scorched Earth Tactics denies the enemy by restricting their movement, logistics, and base of operations. Booby traps can be placed in buildings & Strategic points to slow enemy resource gathering and bottlenecking. Roadblocks can only be destroyed by direct fire. Strategic points can be denied by scorching it. This tactic also gives access to the powerful Hummel self-propelled artillery howitzer.
Luftwaffe Tactics Edit
The Luftwaffe Tactics utilizes the famous Luftwaffe forces, including infantry such as the Luftwaffe Ground Force and Fallschirmjager, and the one of the well known self-propelled anti-aircraft guns, the Wirbelwind Flakpanzer. The 88mm Flak 36 can only be constructed through this tactic, and the Henshel Hs 129 can be called upon to crack the enemy's armored vehicles.
Tank Destroyer Tactics Edit
The Tank Destroyer Tactics focuses on destroying the enemy's armoured vehicles. This tactic allows the Axis Commander to use Teller Mines and increases the firepower of the Panther and other main battle tanks with Armor Piercing Rounds. Infantry sections toting the already potent Panzerschreck are given an additional one, allowing for a doubled anti-tank potential. This tactic also allows the Axis Commander to call in Hetzers and the mighty Jagdpanther tank destroyer.

Company of heroes: Eastern front
Eastern Front is a free mod for Company of Heroes. Following the ethos of mimicking a Relic Entertainment expansion pack, Eastern Front has succeeded in adding a full Soviet faction packed with unique and exciting units to the existing armies - a feat never before achieved in the Company of Heroes world. Can a admin change the As and to a cause I messed up the title.

I think everyone on facepunch should have our own 4vs4 game.
Also you misspelled factions as Fractions.
Amazing game. I've been playing it solidly since release.
Also also, for an excellent skinpack, look here.
I'm one of the admins on the main Company of Heroes Fansite, over at gamereplays. You can find plenty of strategy guides and such over there to help you if you're starting. Also we're holding a 1v1 tournament on the balance beta on the first weekend of February (PRIZE MONEY).
1v1 Automatch for life.

I use this skinpack myself. The one you have there seems to change the normal Wehrmacht to Waffen SS. I prefer leaving them as normal Wehrmacht and making the PE be Waffen SS.
My one makes the US HT look so sexy.
my one makes the us ht look so sexy.
us ht?
This is definately in my opinion the best RTS of recent years
And that Eastern Front mod should be made official, it looks amazing
us ht?
US Halftrack.
I think we should organised a 4vs4 facepunch game.
i remember playing this game it was fun
loved comp stomps on insane difficulty
the bots sending wave after waves of tanks and infantry it was insane
and this was on maps like the scheldt
http://www.moddb.com/mods/blitzkrieg
My favorite mod has always been Blitzkrieg.
But I just found this with the M3 Lee and Maus... can't wait too try it
http://www.moddb.com/mods/steel-torrent
I used to be very good on this game.
It was until the Panzer Elite came out and spamming was just the mainstream tactic.
i own as panzer elite
I tried getting into this game a while back but I never really caught onto it. I'm going to try playing it again, and hopefully with some nice folks.

Me too. While I digged into games like Steel Panthers and the WWII Combat Missions, ever since 2006 I never really grasped the game's "winning principles" for MP. I guess the whole thing just reminds me of Starcraft too much.

Bridge maps against AI is just the best thing ever in this.
Play Blitzkrieg with this and you will forever be hooked. It's indescribably much better than vanilla.
Bridge maps against AI is just the best thing ever in this.
Dig in with MG's, Mortars, and AT's. Infantry only vs their tanks. Enjoy.
I got Opposing Force. I love how it gives you one or two more missions in total than there were in the original campaign, though I hate how it makes the German soldiers in the cutscenes sound like medieval poets.
"Mother says the house is in shambles, without a roof." for example.
If anyone would like the play a 1v1, particularly in the balance beta (need to practice for the tourney coming up), please send me a PM.
If you want access to the balance beta, just add your CD key on steam.
Who so? I never seen alot spamming in this game. I also love panzer elite.
Man you should have seen the match I had once. Me and my buddy on Lyon as germans and they spammed fucking howitzers.
My response was making about 7 motorcycles and charge straight at the enemy tanks at the middle bridge, surprisingly most of em survived and took out the howitzers.
The match was intense and lasted around 1-2 hours or so, still got the replay if anyone wants it.
Bridge maps against AI is just the best thing ever in this.
Them bottlenecks :smug:
Unfortunately, I find it impossible to enjoy this game after playing Men of War.
Unfortunately, I find it impossible to enjoy this game after playing Men of War.
Ugg men of war. The only fun they about it is direct control. Terrible pathfinding (Well worse then coh) and bad graphics.
As said, OP needs a bit of information about Blitzkrieg. That mod makes CoH ten times as fun if you are a realism freak.
After playing Blitzkrieg you honestly can't go back, it just adds so much.
Amazing game, favorite RTS of all time.
Rails and Metal is the best map
One of my friends can't get off Achelous River (bridge's everywhere :frog:)
I love this game though,
It was my favourite game for a while.
