Is there a way to quiet the Controllers in STALKER?

I really hate the damn high pitched noise the Controllers make in STALKER: Call of Pripyat, and I was wondering if anyone knows a mod/method to either quiet or change the sound altogether. It's really high pitched and irritates me.

Ontopic: I don't think there are any mods that reduce it or switch it off, you'll just have to lower your volume when you get near one.

Yeah, I noticed the megathread was closed and I just wanted to find this out. Guess I'll just have to bear with it.

You can quiet them with a grenade/rpg or a few bullets to the head. They aren't that common.

Or a knife. Controllers are weak as shit when you're up close.
