"Borderlands is a science fiction first-person shooter with RPG elements that was developed by Gearbox Software for Microsoft Windows, Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3. It was first revealed in the September 2007 issue of Game Informer magazine. The console versions of the game were released in North America on October 20, 2009, and were released in PAL countries on October 23. The Windows version was released on October 26 for North America and then on October 29 internationally."
Borderlands is set on the planet of Pandora. Lured by its apparent vast deposits of minerals, several colonization ships sponsored by the Dahl Corporation (one of several diversified mega-corporations that appear to control and govern entire planets) journey to the planet and build settlements there. The mining operations are cost-effectively manned by large amounts of convict labor brought to the planet by Dahl. Prior to the events of the game, one of the other mega-corporations, known as the Atlas Corporation, had found an ancient vault on a nearby planet known as Promethia, filled with alien technology that allowed them to make leaps and bounds in starship and weaponry technology, and overtake their competitors. The presence of similar alien ruins scattered across Pandora spurs the Dahl Corporation to undertake an extensive search for a possible vault on Pandora, headed by a respected xeno-archeologist by the name of Tannis. However, the Dahl-sponsored search for a vault on Pandora turns out to be fruitless, and the massive industrial mining operations soon deplete the bulk of the mineral deposits. Furthermore, the coming of the planet's summer unleashes hordes of dangerous alien wildlife coming out of hibernation. Those who are rich and important enough to do so leave the planet, leaving the rest of the population to scavenge for their living in isolated settlements, eking out a living in the barren wastelands and industrial trash heaps across the planet. To make matters worse, the Dahl Corporation simply opened the gates of the prison labor camps during their departure, and gangs of bandits terrorize the populace. Despite the lack of evidence of its existence, legends persist of "The Vault" – a supposed treasure trove of alien artifacts, technology, and of innumerable wealth – but it is rumored that any who had discovered it were wiped out by a protective force, leaving few clues as to its location or purpose while a myth was born of the marvelous treasures within.

The Zombie Island of Dr. Ned:
The Zombie Island of Dr. Ned is the first installment of downloadable content (DLC) for Borderlands and includes new quests, items, and enemies - including WereSkags and various zombies. The storyline takes place in an area known as Jakobs Cove which is a small town built by the Jakobs Corporation. Dr.Ned had been in charge of keeping the workers of Jakobs Cove alive, but ended up transforming them into zombies. The main plot revolves around finding previous visitors to Jakobs Cove and investigating Dr. Ned himself after the Jakobs Corporation become suspicious of his work. The playable area includes a large outdoor map with several further areas branched from the main zone - including a dark, abandoned version of previous area 'Old Haven'.

Mad Moxxi's Underdome Riot:
Mad Moxxi's Underdome Riot is the second piece of DLC for Borderlands. It features three new riot arenas, and storage for players' items. The plot of the DLC is Moxxi, a crazed lover who is setting out to find her 4th husband, leading her to make the arenas in the DLC. Players fight several of the game's enemies, including bosses, in arenas. No experience is gained from killing enemies in the arena battles, but experience can be gained from completing challenges or quests in the arena. New game modes are added, such as low gravity fighting, enemy health regeneration, and shieldless fighting.

The Secret Armory of General Knoxx:
The Secret Armory of General Knoxx is the third in the series of downloadable content packs for Borderlands. Gearbox Software first announced it on January 21, 2010, stating that it would be "the largest DLC for Borderlands to date" and would provide "new challenges and opportunities for growth for characters from around level 34 to level 50." It was released for Xbox 360 on February 23rd and for PC and PS3 on February 25th.
Now is anyone ready to kick some ass and find The Vault?
I always feel like i want to play this game again because of the awesome things you can do, but then again. It feels boring
I always feel like i want to play this game again because of the awesome things you can do, but then again. It feels boring
I always want to play but i want to play with people on ventrilo and times that wont bother any of us.
I bought it on the PS3 so I could play split-screen with my family. Money well spent.
I loved this game. Played a Hunter, collected Revolvers, got to level 61, used a glitch to raid Knoxx's Armory over and over in search for more, better revolvers. Those were good times.
I always have an urge to play but then I remember the 15 minute long load times and go about my day. :saddowns:
I have this, ima soldier
I got swindled with a rocket-launching shotgun.
I thought it would shoot mini-rockets in a shotgun fashion, but it was basicly a crappy launcher.
Corrosive weapons rock.
I thought this game was great, till a few of my friends stopped playing. Now, I don't even care about this game anymore.
Still is alright, but needs big improvement.
I also remember that after beating the game as a Siren, then I replayed it as melee based Hunter. After putting a few points in the melee skills, Hunter deals out immense melee damage at even low levels.
I always go like "wow I'd really be up for some Borderlands right now" but then when I start the game and I get loaded into that big city, I just don't get as excited anymore and turn it off instantly.
I just finished my first playthrough as the Siren. thanks to the Dr. Ned and Armory DLC, I'm about 10 levels over the recommended levels for the starting quests in New Game Plus. but I think I'll leave the game alone for a bit. make it feel fresh again when I come back.
I found it nigh-impossible to solo the "prove yourself" mission for Moxxi's Underdome Riot. I always got to round 3 and end up getting fucked over. is anyone has any advice for doing so, it would be great.
but for an overall opinion, I think this game is great. it'd be better with more people, but it's still got a charm of it's own. when you transition from the Arid Badlands to New Haven and start doing all the stuff there and the Rust Commons, it feels like a massive change of place as well as scenery. the Zombie Island DLC is quite hilarious in a creepy sort of way ("HAHAHA IT'S NOT OVER!" [sp]Undead Ned: HOLY FUCKING SHIT!![/sp]) and the Armory DLC does a great job on expanding the ending, though I really wish they had placed a few more fast travel points there. it gets both old and annoying to have to drive through the Crimson Tollway and the Ridgeway over and over to get to certain areas.
so yeah, I've gone through my first playthrough, only leaving Moxxi's Underdome and Crawmerax the Invincible in the Armory DLC alone and unfinished. may come back when I get to higher levels, though. but that depends on if I come back for a second playthrough anytime soon. chances are I will, but I want to play a couple other games first, though.
Hate to be a begger and I'll probably get in trouble, but the game is 10$ on steam and I have no money.
I'm working on the oil spill and before i got my paycheck they stopped alot of it because "lol hurricane"
If someone could gift me Borderlands I'd repay them with any 20-30$ when they resume clean up.

Thanks anyone. I'm going to bed.
( i know this looks shit with a couple posts and asking for shit, but help some poorfag out)
I liked Borderlands better when the land was still procedural. Either way, it's fun for a couple playthrough with buddies.
Don't suppose anyones up for doing Mad Moxxi with me?
Don't suppose anyones up for doing Mad Moxxi with me?
I might if I can get the 3 DLCs tomorrow (They're all for $10!)
I have it on PS3, it's good and bad. You kinda start playing then you realize its just really empty. I managed to complete it the two times, first one doing all the missions, second one, I have no idea.
I think if it had had a more urban city to it, like more towns, etc it would have been more fun because then you wouldn't feel so lonely :smith:
If I buy the DLC on Steam but have a boxed copy of Borderlands, is there a way to get the DLC to work?

New haven.

I remember kicking zombie butt when me and my friends was playing zombie island of Dr. Ned, I ran around and killed almost everyone as mordecai with melee.

No.
Buying the Steam version + the DLC is still cheaper than buying the 3 DLC full price though.
I only play this game for the grenade jumping.
On a related note, I beat zombie island in about 30 minutes with grenade jumping.

basically it says SCREW YOU to the early adopters.
[editline]03:45AM[/editline]
Anyways, what skill paths do you guys use in combination with COMs?
Personally I use the Pistol high DPS build and extra critical damage in snipers with a Sniper COM with ammo regen. (mordecai) IMO Firefly lilith makes the game too easy.
Any character (preferably Mordecai) + Pestilent Defiler = instant win
In my experience anyways, I assume this wouldn't work in the 3rd DLC or PvP because I haven't played it
I've never played borderlands. And I have no money to buy it. D:
Borderlands is great for 1 or 2 playthroughs with some friends. After that it's just meh.
I've never played borderlands. And I have no money to buy it. D:
so why did you post here.
Borderlands has always interested me, so was pleasantly surprised to see it 66% off in the steam sale...then I realised I don't get paid for a week...
After the 3rd play through I totally lost interest in this game.
I got bored after the first playthrough. I want to like this game but its just not good enough.
Whats everyones equip set?
I have a hyperion 2 "The spy"(gentlemen) SMG,
A maliwan 2-shot corrosive revolver
Some kinda dahl shotgun
An S&S munitions incedary sniper
And it works perfectly. I have a hyperion 2 Launcher in my inventory for tanking dem bosses. sometimes i dont know what to take out of my inventory so i can use it V:v:V
