The short and sweet:
------------------------------
Planetside 2 is the sequel to the infamous FPSMMO, Planetside. It's an FPS, mixed with MMO-influenced features, and is notably the worlds only major-scale first person shooter that can reasonably support up to 2000 players on a single map. It is also an MMO in the sense that you align yourself with one of three empires.. The Terran Republic, the New Conglomerate, or the Vanu Sovereignty, and must progress through the game's ranks and earn points as you go to make your character more versatile. (Explained further below)
Maps are large, confirmed to be up to 64 square kilometers in size. Each map is split up by hexes which your faction attempts to control by seizing outposts, facilities, towers, etc spread across the map. Hexes grant your faction a certain resource when held, which is handed out to every member of your faction on your current continent every 5 minutes - Resources are used to buy all manor of vehicles in the game, including Tanks, Aircraft, and presumably whatever else they come up with. Resources are also use to resupply you own explosives and medical kits. The game is class based in a way similar to BF3, except character progression is done via Certifications (or Certs), the main currency of the game that lets you get weapons, different abilities, etc. Certs are earned by just playing the game. You earn one cert point for every 250 points you earn doing things like capturing bases, getting kills, healing, repairing vehicles, and so on, as well as 12 free certs over a 24 hour period for just logging in every day.
It is completely free to play and was released in mid November, 2012. The game offers players the chance to purchase items from the ingame store with real money, which include New Weapons and Skins for your characters, vehicles and items. It should be noted that anything that actually effects gameplay (Weapons, new abilities, etc..) can be earned through gameplay. In fact, most things that affect gameplay can only be earned by playing the game and can't be purchased through the store with real money. Many weapons and upgrades in the game work more like "side-grades" instead of straight upgrades - Such as a tank cannon that does massive damage to tanks but has a bad AoE damage and is in turn bad against infantry. This is intended to keep the balance and make it so the game doesn't become "Pay to Win". Additionally, the primary form of character progression - Certs - can never be purchased.

Well, Helloooooooo Nuse!

Bonus checks optional.
But seriously they really need to change those SHIT poses for the female model. It's like one of their animators used to work on some god awful Nexon f2p.
Would anyone mind telling me the following so I can check the information in the OP?
How often are resources handed out now? How many passive certs are earned in a day? How many points do you need for a cert?

You get resources every 5 minutes, how many you get depends on the territory your faction holds on the continent you're on (each territory gives some of one kind of resource) and you can check that stuff out at the lower right part of the thing that pops up when you hold Tab
Passive certs are capped at 12 certs over 24 hours
250exp for 1 cert

Looks like I had everything right aside from the passive. Thanks!

This, all of the new animations are just terrible. I don't even get why they had to change them, they looked fine before.
Pretty much all new content added after release has been subpar.
Running a 660ti on this game and I still lag on biolabs. Sigh.
Are the servers still under maintenance? I can't play right now but the notes don't seem to say anything about downtimes for today...

GPU won't do shit for you. New CPU will, but not by a big margin since it can't fully utilize it. The game is poorly optimized and isn't even trying to utilize the true power of our glorious machines.

Whenever pump action shotguns finally come along I hope the VS one ejects double A batteries as spent rounds.

If there's something that i will never get tired of watching on it's videos featuring f*cked up PS2 characters.
I hope that when Pump Action shotguns come out they will also implement a choke or something like that.
Or big Shotgun suppressor like in No Country for Old Men (lol)
Playing around on my VS character and suddenly some outfit was rallying all the VS to the warpgate for a massive Magrider column.

I dearly hope they add a nitro boost for the bangbus, I get SO many kills from running people over.
Jesus christ so many people are certing into AT mines now. Driving any sort of ground vehicle is becoming impossible. Especially considering how small the mines are and how easy they are to hide.
Yeah, its really annoying to suddenly up up in flames because some long dead engineer put a mine in the road.
I've never hit an AT mine before, does a single mine actually destroy vehicles without a mineguard like I've been hearing? If that really is the case they should definitely lower the damage they do.
I've never hit an AT mine before, does a single mine actually destroy vehicles without a mineguard like I've been hearing? If that really is the case they should definitely lower the damage they do.
It certainly feels like it. I also would like it if the mine hitbox distinguished between the tread/wheel of the vehicle and the empty space below the undercarriage. It feels like as soon as I tap the mine regardless if any of the tank geometry is touching it, it blows up instantly.
I try to drive with my headlight(s) on if I can and scan the road as I go along but they are so easily hidden in road debris or can even fall slightly under the terrain and be completely invisible. They're also smaller than prox mines which are already hard to see.
Add to the fact that the Vanguard and the other tanks (i assume) don't exactly stop directly when you press down the breaks. Combine that with short viewdistance and you are fucked
Aaaand boom, can't log in.
I've had mines since like the first week of the game.
They've always been OP.
Mineguard is pretty much required if you regularly drive sundys/tanks
I.e. you need several engineers in order to blow up a sundy with mines with one maxed out, as two just doesn't cut it
Its stupid though how easily spammable they are tho
They should make it so AT times are more easily identifiable on the road (but not super easy or anything, just enough), can be spotted with Q, can't explode unless the vehicle is moving over it (so not putting it on things that are parked) and have a 5 sec deploy timer or something along those lines

It takes two, but the first rank allows you to carry two, so most people only put them down in pairs.

They're already pretty easily identified, they just sometimes clip through terrain.
And yeah, you should be able to spot and defuse mines.
They should increase the amount of mines you can have and reduce their cost but make it take longer to place and actually have to be triggered by being run over.

The problem with the whole "trigger upon actual contact" idea is that magriders would be pretty much immune to them.

"Oh, they also have detectors for hypermagnetic, gravitational anti-proton thingamajig, Mines do detonate when detecting magriders"
Vanu should get cloaking mines.
Vanu should get cloaking mines.
Don't all of the factions have invisible mines?
Don't all of the factions have invisible mines?
I've never checked, I always die before I know I've driven over a mine.

It's incredible that the flinch problem is so bad even aimbotting shitbags are aware of it.
