These are the servers but you can guest across your region. Only restriction is guild banks and upgrades are per-server and you can only play world vs world for your home server. The guild is universal (so we can all chat together) so please just leave your name.1234 user here and someone should add you

Guild Wars 2 is a fully persistent MMO with a personal story as well. Your personal story is affected by some of your choices during character creation, as well as choices you make during the game. There is an instanced zone that reflects the choices you make during the game, and player housing is planned for some time after release. The game has a ton of dialogue and voice acting (over 60 feature films worth of it!)
The game has no subscription fee, and is supported by the cosmetics in the cash shop. All of the items in the cash shop can also be bought with ingame money as well.
Guild Wars 2 also has a new take on quests, which they call Dynamic events, and Renown Hearts. Heart events are more like traditional quests, but you don't have to talk to anyone to participate and receive the reward. Dynamic Events randomly appear in the map, and anyone can participate in them before it ends, and possibly starts another event in the chain. A popular example they have is that a band of centaurs is attacking a village, and there is an event to defend the village and kill the centaurs. If players do not stop the centaurs, they will take over the village, and any NPCs in that village become unavailable. A new event starts, to take back the village from the centaurs. If players succeed, a third event may be to escort villagers as they bring supplies to repair the village. These events reward all levels of participation, so even if you arrive late, you will still get something.
There are repeatable Dungeons made for groups of 5 people. The first time you do it, it is in Story mode, and it tells you the story of the dungeon, including decisions you made in your personal story. After you complete that, you can return in the more difficult explorable mode.
ArenaNet has also changed how classes function so that the holy trinity (Healer, DPS, Tank) isn't needed. Each profession has healing and support skills, as well as damage. The ability to swap your weapons and skills means that you can change to what is needed in a situation.
PVP
There are several kinds of PVP in GW2. Structured PvP (sPvP), that has many matches that act similar to FPS game servers. It will have a player limit (usually 16), and people can join and leave at will for more casual PvP. There are also automated Tournaments that require a number of players to join as a team, in an elimination style match. In these PvP types, everyone has access to every weapon, armor, upgrade and skill - making it so player skill is the only factor in winning, not who has the better gear.
The third is the most different - World vs World vs World, where three servers face each other on 4 massive maps over the course of a week. Hundreds of people can be playing across the 4 maps at a time, and 60 player skirmishes are common. By capturing keeps and supply posts, you gain points that help your entire world gain various bonuses, such as more experience per kill in PvE.

Fun game.
Yes, best first post I know.

70g to go....
Are you made of gold or something?
I want to change realms but I am afraid all the other realms may be
A) As crap as Fort Aspenwood
B) Even laggier. (Australian here, only American servers available.)
toast
just waitin' for Behemoth

anytime now
[editline]27th February 2013[/editline]
jk Behemoth is bugged and we ended up waiting 2 and a half hours for nothing
I thought the limit was 250 or something like that?
Limit for what?
Pages to a thread before autolock.
Limit for what?
Gah, I want an another total overhaul kit, I'd make my fem Charrior punk with these new hair colours.
Are the skins you get from personal story rewards unique or can you get them elsewhere?
I got the last post on the last thread lol
Also we need to step up our influence amounts for the guild so we can unlock guild missions, the guy who has nearly all the cultural armor achievements is made of gold so he is officially the guild's official guild promotion buyer for the guild
GoM has 18-19k, and needs 30k. It would either take some time, or be 20-23g in donations (already have 1g in gbank), which really isn't that much across each of the active GoM players.
And then we can do guild bounty over and over until we have enough for the other upgrades for other crap.
[editline].[/editline]
Someone donate 1000g so we can just use the speed up upgrade thing for EVERYTHING.

Also, found a really detailed post about guild missions, problems with it, and possible solutions.

This gave me the mental image of garry browsing a grocery for OPs, and poking them to see which ones are freshest
Me likey.
When is the next big patch, anyone?
There was one yesterday.
Me likey.

Yesterday.
I think that I might donate a good portion (see: 40s) to the guild bank, because I want those guild rewards and missions.

on one hand, I agree there needs to be more consideration for various size guilds. On the other hand, this is content made specifically to allow large groups of people to do something together and he keeps frantically reiterating the fact his guild of four people won't be able to do it. I'm sorry but that's much less a 'guild' and more a 'friends list with a custom tag'.
I'm not even sure he understands the fact you can have multiple guilds to your account, nor realizes that despite not getting influence to his personal guild for activities, befriending some people and forming an alliance with another guild so you can access their unlocked content would be super easy, considering you only have to get four people invited to the big one.
I really hope that in some point of this living story nonsense we get a new dungeon or two.
The current ones are getting boring.
[editline]27th February 2013[/editline]
And new dungeons means new explorable which means new armor sets.
One can dream.
@Dai
That is true, but I think that the problems would still exist with a guild 20-30 people, unless they are all very active, and that his idea of scaling the requirements is a good one.
I mean, taking Facepunch GoM for example, we made 900 influence yesterday, not counting what was purchased. It would take us a month to get the influence for the first guild challenge. At this rate, we will not have all of the challenges unlocked for 300 days because of the stuff like architecture 6, plus the 50k costs of some of the actual challenge unlocks. I don't think we're a large guild, but we are not tiny like his either. That amount of time seems excessive.
Yay new thread.
The dungeons in this game are probably the most exploity things I've seen a while. The only real challenge with some dungeons is getting everyone through while skipping through unneccesary trash mob fights

very true, it seems excessively high. I wonder what their research on average guild size was based on.
Still, I'm rather pissed in how everyone is crying like the game is ruined. They didn't make anything existing cost you 50k influence just to play, this is new content put out for a specific purpose and people who don't fit the intended demographic are throwing bitchfits- some warranted, most I've seen are not.
This is the same kind of crowd who whined that the game is grindy explicitly because there's questing. If you want a game that's 90% cutscenes and 10% linear maps that reward you with endgame content for just walking from point A to point B, I don't know what will please you.
Well GW2 does have the most whine prone community I have ever seen, so that's probably like 75% of it, and the rest is people that actually know why they are whining.

the average age of the GW2 userbase seems like 11-14 judging on the (english of the) official forum and GW2Guru.

the average age always seems very young if you account for any company's self-hosted forums. Older people tend to either stick to their friends to talk about stuff, or have existing forums with a userbase they're comfortable with and would rather talk about stuff there [cough cough]
This game might only have been out for under 6 months, but it's probably one of my all-time favorite games. I put around 650-ish hours into it, and that's over half the amount of hours I have in TF2 which is my favorite game of all time. It's sort of scary, considering TF2 has been out since 07 and I've played it since the Heavy update back in 08. :v:
So now I'm stuck in this pose
