Overview: Star Wars Sandbox ( not being it's official name ) is a Star Wars game built with RPG maker VX ace. I am currently the only one working on this game, but with the generous amount of time I have, I work hard on it. The idea is to basically create a single player star wars sandbox game like only the fans have dreamed. SWG attempted this online in MMO form but I wanted to take an offline approach. The game will truly be open in terms of what you can do, there will be 12 planets that will be listed below. Different professions and tons of random events that can re-occur to keep the game fresh. It is heavily WIP but allot of systems are already implemented and theories work for allot of them. I think the depth of this game can only be explained through it's features, so I have compiled a ton of features that would interest the star wars fans Features: Species: Human, Zabrak, Twi'lek, Wookie, Chiss. Professions such as Smuggling, Bounty hunting etc Random Mission vendors Bounty Hunting Terminal Smuggling Mission terminals Hundreds of random events that have chances of playing out based on percentage chance, equipment you carry, party members you have and other things. Space flight and space combat. Traveling to planets is done in real time by piloting a ship ( if you can afford one ) Hundreds of different weapons, ranging from blasters, melee weapons and explosives. Droid crafting Weapon Crafting Armor crafting! 12 planets include: Tatooine, Yavin IV, Dathomir, Dantooine, Coruscant, Hoth, Mustafar, Bespin, Correlia, Endor, Naboo and Dagobah. Each planet is huge and has tons to do and see. Join the civil war between the empire and rebels. Become a jedi ( maybe. ) at the beginning of every new level you have 3% chance of your character becoming force sensitive. You will not be alerted of this. You would have to seek out of either Yoda on dagobah for Jedi training or The Emporer himself for sith training. You can also be a neutral Jedi after the training and escape from the Empires clutches. House purchasing to store items when your backpack is full Lightsaber Crafting and much much more! Keep in note that all of these systems are all implemented and are not just words. But of course the implementation needs tweaking all of the time and things can change. But I will never fall to far away from the original goal. I will be taking full care of mapping and scripting. Tileset artists would also be welcome! If you have any questions then ask away!
When can I play this game? I like the art and the features you got in so far seem awesome!
Well I can say one thing and that is this looks amazing and I really want to try this out.
2D SWG? Sounds fun.
I have no ETA on a release, and it is only around 10% finished with all things considered, but the more support I have and sprite artists, the quicker I could get species/monsters/creatures and other things out of the way :)
Looks pretty good, reminds me of SWG
This sounds AWESOME!
Wow, that actually looks pretty cool. Good work.
Thank you all for the kind words. It's great to get support!
Wow, I would love to play this.
Are we going to expect romance DLC?

Don't forget the Gay Planet.
Don't forget the Gay Planet.
Planet Fab,
I'm surprised nobody is lambasting the OP for using RPG Maker VX Ace. Still, best of lucks and watch out for any C&Ds. Are you making the art?
Most of the art is by someone I know, but I make tweaks for variations etc.
Some of the art is really good like Jabba the Hutt and the data terminal in the Imperial base. Though the ground tiles could use some major improvement to make them less busy or bland. How is it going to play like? How is combat going to play out?

You can travel north, west, south and east, but not inbetween. There will not be random encounters like many RPG's use. Instead to start combat you or they ( a hostile threat ) will either have to touch you, or you touch them, it will then initiate the turn based fighting system similar to a mix between pokemon and final fantasy. Level cap is 99, you can choose to learn blaster pistols or blaster rifles altho I am thinking of making carbines separate. You can also learn explosives and me-lee weapons, or just learn to brawl your way out of situations. You can pay credits to learn more skills or completely new skill trees such as perhaps crafting of a certain category you are interested in. It would be highly possible to play through the game and not encounter one battle if you were clever enough. For example, if you were to be a crafter and find yourself becoming good at it. You could use the stuff you craft to sell and become wealthy, buying houses and furniture if thats the way you want to play. However even crafting has its own dangers since you cannot simply magic up the means to craft. You'll have to either hunt, survey or mine. It would be up to you if you'd prefer combat training for this scenario. Or just run on pure luck of not bumping into a band of tusken raiders or perhaps even worse, a krayt dragon.
In Corellia, can you put a line of people in front of a medical facility or some such, as an easter egg/nod to Pre-CU Star Wars Galaxies?
Kind of looks like Space Station 13.
Do you have a sprite template for people? It's been a long time since I've messed around with spriting but I'd give it a go.
So uhm, just curious what your plan is if lucas arts finds out about any of this... you know they'll wanna put up a fight and squeeze a single cent of you.1

WARNING: Only do characters from the classic films, 4 5 and 6. Since that is the time period this game is set in. Could do with an Ewok or Gamorean guard from Jabbas palace [editline]23rd March 2013[/editline]
So uhm, just curious what your plan is if lucas arts finds out about any of this... you know they'll wanna put up a fight and squeeze a single cent of you.1
They aren't going to be fussed about an RPG maker game. And if they are, I'll remove it.
dude holy fuck this is radical. oh my goooooooood I wanna play.
Complete with lake retreat special housing and your own dreamy Jedi to fall in love with!
I'll take 15.
I had the idea of a SW RPG maker game yesterday. Though this one looks pretty good but i'd say the stormtroopers look kinda off.
This sounds pretty awesome.
So far my only gripe with what you're telling us is the whole 3% chance to be force sensitive thing. I don't like my gameplay entirely up to chance. I would like it like how it was in SWG - if you wanted to be a Jedi, you do trial and error hard work until you are rewarded with each stage of force sensitivity, and even after you've worked for weeks to achieve "glowing" status (SWG pre-CU players will know what I mean) you still have days and days of training and work ahead to even become a padawan. The process from non-force to jedi master took many months. Some even up to a year. I would like it like that, instead of having it given to you. Even if the chance is only 3%, if you start with it its just handed to you.
