when i try to sign in to PSN i get an error message coming up saying: "An error has occurred. You have been signed out of PlayStation Network (8001050F)" i also don't seem to have any of my trophies for heavy rain and my theme that i got free with the collectors edition is corrupted. the error seems to stop you playing some games, the message that comes up is something like "Registration of Trophy Information could not be completed" and then the only thing you can do is quit the game. is this affecting many other people?
It's affecting a majority of people with the fat version of the PS3
/v/ is going wild about this. Apparently a large number of people are getting their PS3's bricked by the newest PSN update.
Just wait for a few more hours.
/v/ is going wild about this. Apparently a large number of people are getting their PS3's bricked by the newest PSN update.
No. Not by an update. By the Date changing from 28/2/2010 to 1/3/2010. You can stop updates, you can't stop time, which is why this error is so widespread.
the date on the date on mine went back to the 1/1/2000
Most people think it's because the PS3 is thinking it's 29/2/2010. Which isn't real. The OS is saying "WTF!?" and then goes back to 31/12/1999 or 1/1/2000, which is what is causing the problems.
Mine went back to the 31/12/1999 too. It's a really weird error and I hope it doesn't kill my console as I won't have anywhere to back shit up too...
It's the Y2K(10)!
It's the ApocalyPS3. That's official btw.

The cool thing about this, is that Sony will probably give away a game for free or something, much like Microsoft did when Xbox Live had problems.
Ah yes, that must be it. Playstations are configured for leapyear, every year, who knew?
Haha, if that is true then wow that's a cock up and a half.
The cool thing about this, is that Sony will probably give away a game for free or something, much like Microsoft did when Xbox Live had problems.
Probably not, Sony are pretty cheap when it comes to the PSN. And as it isn't a paid service they don't have much reason too.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Cu-vdhgkC6o&feature=player_embedded
Wow these people are fast I'm lucky in that I usually don't play my PS3 every day, so I'm hearing all this beforehand so I know to not turn my PS3 on until it's all past.
i want to play some heavy rain -_- damn ps3
The cool thing about this, is that Sony will probably give away a game for free or something, much like Microsoft did when Xbox Live had problems.
Game? Stop fooling yourself, everyone knows that PS3 doesn't have any games. :smug:
Happened to me, and pretty much every PS3 user. I was just wondering why my dad started yelling all of sudden "PIECE OF SHIT WORK"
Go check the official PS Megathread. I've posted some info. A potential, but risky fix. And the latest THRILLING news update from Sony about this. [sp]No news about when they're fixing it yet, but they'll tell us when it is. Thanks >.>[/sp]
Shit, better not turn mine on until this is fixed
If the PS3 doesn't recognize 29/2/2010, does that mean that next year, there will be the same problem the same day, since we won't have this day for the next 4 years?
After this Fiasco, they will develop a patch which forces it to skip this next year, or some other workaround. They'll be looking out for this next year.
This didn't happen to me and I own a fat PS3.
