Hello
I have been thinking of buying Warhammer Dark Crusade from steam, but I were wondering if I would be able to play online and if I would be able to play with other races, like chaos/space marines and so on.
Thanks
You'll be able to play as the Tau and the Necrons, you need to own the preceding games, dawn of war and winter assault to play the other races, Space Marines, Chaos Marines, Eldar, Orks and Imperial guard online.
For multiplayer you'll need the respective game.

[*]Dawn of War:
Space Marines, Orks, Eldar, Chaos
[*]Winter Assault:
Imperial Guard
[*]Dark Crusade:
Tau & Necrons
[*]Soulstorm:
Sisters of Battle & Dark Eldar

Edit: I think you can buy all four in one bundle on Steam. Soulstorm's MP is wonky but I liked the campaign.
SPESH MARRENS TODAY THE ENEMY IS AT OUR DOOR!
You will be able to play as everything in single player skirmishes :)
there is package I can buy
"Buy Dawn of War® - Platinum Edition
Includes 2 items: Warhammer® 40,000: Dawn of War® - Gold Edition, Warhammer® 40,000: Dawn of War® - Dark Crusade"
this means I would be able to play SM, orks, eldars, chaos', tau and necrons.
But what about the "Dawn of War II", will I only be able to play those races "in" the dawn of war 1 style? (Grahpics, gamestyle and so on)
DoW2 is a completely different, and in my option, completely inferior game. The races in it are Space Marines, Orks, Eldar and Tyrannids.
Dawn of War II has Tyranids, Space Marines, Eldar and Orks. Theres an expansion called "Chaos Rising" that adds Chaos as a playable race.

So by buying either of the "expansions" (like Chaos Rising) they/it will add to either DOW1 or DOW2?
Winter Assault, Dark Crusade, and Soulstorm add to DoWI. Chaos Rising adds to DoWII.
DOW2 is a completely separate game to DOW1, none of the expansions in DOW2 apply to DOW1, and none of the expansions in DOW2 apply to DOW1.
Completely disregard dow2, it's awful compared to the first.

If you want all the races, buy dow1+soulstorm+winter assault+dark crusade.
Get the DoW I - Platinum edition along with Soulstorm for the sake of completeness.
Dark Crusade, in my opinion and a lot of peoples opinion is the best DoW 1 expansion, mainly because it has more balance than soulstorm and more races than Winter Assault. It is a game everyone should play as it is a proper RTS. As far as I remember you can play all races in Dark Crusade, but I might be wrong as you need codes from the previous games to play non-dark crusade classes but I think there was a third party patch for this.
Think we can "close" this topic
Gotten answers to my questions, thanks.
Also if you play online its filled with people who enjoy rushing before 30 seconds in to the game
DoW2 is a totally different game, and a shitty one at that. If I was you I'd buy Dark Crusade, Winter Assault and the Original game, Soul Storm wasn't really that good and even the races felt boring.
-SNIP BECAUSE ANTI-CAPS MESSED UP EVERyTHING-
