So, what is Bad Company (The first game)?
The Bad Company series started off as a console only game. The game got a great amount of attention and people still play the first game.
Being a Battlefield game, the developers, DICE, spent a lot of time finetuning the multiplayer to fit the game's most notable feature. It's destruction. No wall is safe! You can shoot a granade into a wall and watch as the granade blows the entire wall into bits. Large battlefields with lots of destruction and great graphics, all powered by DICE's new Frostbite engine.
The destruction allows for a much more intense gameplay experience. Knowing that the walls will no longer protect you from a tank's gun is something to get used to. Making the vehicles in the game a lot more powerful since your foes can no longer hide in a building.
The first Bad Company was a big change for DICE and all of the Battlefield fans. Not only due to the new destruction and it being console only but because it was the first Battlefield game to have an actual singleplayer campaign.
The Singleplayer story:
The story in Bad Company 1 revolves around a quartet of military misfits who have all been placed in the "expendable" company, B-Company, for various reasons. The soldiers in B-Company do the army's dirty work, they go in before the Special Forces do, since they are, like mentioned, deemed expendable.

A picture of the main characters, from left to right: Preston Marlowe, Sweetwater, Haggard and Sarge, also known as "Red".
Here is a very brief look on the characters that appear in the game. If you'd like a more indepth look on each of the characters, click on their names.
Preston Marlowe:
The player takes on the role of Preston Marlowe, B-Company's latest addition. The reason behind Preston's sudden move to B-Company is quite unknown, but it involves him flying a helicopter recklessly and most likely crashing. Hopefully more detail about Preston will be revealed as the series continues.
Sargeant Redford: Sargeant Redford, or "Red" as they call him, is the leader of the squad and he is the most responsible of the four.
He is unique in many ways compared to the other, mostly because he's the only one that volunteered to join B-Company. By doing so, he is now only three days away from retirement. After that, no more fighting for him. Just fishing in Marlin.
George Haggard Jr.:
Haggard got transferred to B-Company after an incident where he shows his love for explosions by blowing up a very large fuel deopt that belonged to the US military.
Haggard is the clown of the group and is usually the one that says and does the most memorable things throughout the game.

Sweetwater (no indepth page about him):
Sweetwater is the squad's smart guy, or nerd as Haggard likes to call him. Red tends to nag at him aswell for talking too much.
Haggard and Sweetwater have an almost brother like relationship, where Haggard is the big brother. They, at times, behave like two kids on a long car ride throughout the game.
His story is rather amusing, he somehow managed to upload a virus to the US army's mainframe and was forced to serve in B-Company as punishment. Before this incident, he was saving money so that he could go to colledge, guess that won't happen anytime soon..
The story of Bad Company 1:
It all starts with a very "simple" reconissance. But it's never that easy now is it..? In the beginning, they act as the army's slaves and do what they are told to do. But then something.. something shiny catches their attention. GOLD!
I don't want to spoil the fun for you, so go play it! Since this thread is about BC2 I won't jump into details about the first game's singleplayer.

The story of Bad Company 2:
Little is known about it, but recently a singleplayer reveal trailer was released:

New features in Bad Company 2:

Improved destruction! Now complete buildings can fall over when shot at. You can also chip away small pieces of cover so that you can make holes in a concrete wall so that you can see through it and still use it as cover.

More gamemodes! There is Conquest, Rush, Squad Deathmatch and Squad Rush. Plenty to keep you and your friends busy for hours!

Improved gameplay! The bad parts of the gameplay from the first game have been fixed and the good stuff has been refined to make this game a lot better than the first game!

Improved vehicle physics! At last, DICE has fixed up the otherwise clunky physics that is found in previous titles such as BC1 and BF2. The vehicles behave a lot better now and it's much easier to drive. Which allowes for much more mayham with vehicles!

New weapons and unlocks! Customize your weapons and make them the way you want them to be. Add scopes, granadelaunchers and other attatchments to your weapons.

New and improved class system! Now you can customize the class of your choice to make it suit your playstyle a lot more, adding more freedome to the game.

A new singleplayer campaign! The story of Preston, Red, Haggard and Sweetwater continues, now in brand new and excotic locations!

And a whole lot more!

Do you have a tri/quad core pc? Add +fullproc in a a shortcut and get an fps boost! It should look like this:
\Battlefield Bad Company 2 - BETA\BFBC2Game.exe" +fullproc
It might not help everybody but sometimes it does. My average fps went up by 10fps atleast.
Curious of what the game may look like on low/med/high? Icemaz has made a great comparison of the three graphical levels.
Check it out here: Icemaz's comparison shots

PS: Make sure to tell me if you spot any errors. Large chance there are plenty since I wrote this myself. Thanks!

Thank you good sirs! :tiphat:
As I said in the last thread, I'm not sure if I should go for PC version or not. I meet the minimum requirements but I don't want to spend 50$ on a game with shitty FPS if the retail version didn't fix it.
BC2 Rocks my socks, buy it now!
Nice title
Yeah, it's nice. T2L_Goose came up with it.
Does anyone know if performance will be better when the game is finally released? As of now, I'm afraid to buy this game because from what I hear, it takes a supercomputer to run smoothly.

They are optimizing it further. But there is no way that we can tell what it'll be like. If your fps is around 20 or so. Consider getting it for the 360/PS3 instead. Gameplay over graphics, remember that.

Updating gave me great +20 fps

Yeah well the gameplay's better on the PC version. I played the PS3 beta, the 360 demo and the PC beta and even with the lag PC's where I had the most fun.
i want next title to be "find a bad guy, i'll get you ice cream for dinner"
Noted. Will decide later on what the title of V5 will be.

Well, it's up to you. It's easier to communicate but if you lag a lot. It really isn't that much fun to play.
This may be late, but are you guys getting random freezes and crashes?
Happened twice to my friend last night, and just happened now for me.
Its odd, because both of us have been running settings at max have I have had no problem at all.

not very often anymore, but I used to crash when the game is over.
I haven't had a single crash yet.
The update gave me like.
2 fps at most and i have dual core.

That's because you have a bottom of the line GPU to match your shitty CPU.
People keep complaining about their frame rates, but I am getting 40-60 constant.
Anyone want a free key for the last day? I found it hidden in the depths of my folders.

You might be overheating then
Been playing the 360 demo for the past week and a half or so, and this is the first time I've seen a game indirectly ruined by another game. For a while everybody actually repaired vehicles, dropped ammo, and healed each other. Now that the MW2 retards are trying the game nobody is doing anything important. (The PS3 demo isn't any better)
Flying helicopters into trees/water/cliffs/buildings/ 5 feet from the helipad
Standing there with two dead squad mates as a medic
Listening to people yell "I NEED AMMO" and running away when they follow you.
Sitting there in a tank letting people put c4 on you
etc.
Damn MW2. Guess this is why you have to play Battlefield games on the PC.

Two rounds today of Recon Class.
I hope they optimize it more in the full version, if it's like the beta I probably won't get it. :sigh:
The latest patch didn't do anything for me.
I wish you could tell when you were talking, or at least let you check if your mic works before you get in game. My mic occasionally requires me to move the mic port for various games to either the front or the back

You don't need to put it in slow-mo every time you kill an enemy that is moving.

Maybe I wanted to?
Maybe I wanted to?
I didn't ask you why you did it.
It is a nice effect, but it should be used in moderation or else it loses it's awesomeness.
