Operation Flashpoint: Dragon Rising is a first person tactical military game for PC, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 developed by British game developer Codemasters. Codemasters have advertised the game as a tactical shooter designed to realistically represent modern infantry combat. It is a follow-up to Bohemia Interactive's Operation Flashpoint: Cold War Crisis, but was developed entirely by Codemasters due to a falling out between the two companies. PLOT Dragon Rising takes place on a fictional island named Skira (Based on the real-world island Kiska, which is located on the western end of the Aleutian Islands, Alaska), in May 2011 After the Global Economic Crisis causes mass unemployment and political destabilization in China, the PLA seize control of Skira and the vast, newly-discovered reservoir of oil there, from the Russian Federation. Peace talks prove useless as both combatants lay claim to Skira due to previous ownership of it. The situation deteriorates quickly and China begins to fortify its northern provinces in anticipation of armed conflict with Russia. Russia, already countering the PLA on the Chinese mainland, calls to the United States of America to retake Skira from the Chinese. Bound by treaty arrangements made after the end of the Cold War, America agrees and the two biggest armies in the world begin to clash on the island.[5]. As the game progresses, the player must fight off enemy forces along with his fireteam and allied soldiers, for example, this could be assaulting a village held by the PLA, suppressing a team pinning down your fellow soldiers, or rescuing downed crews of crashed helicopters from behind enemy lines. Okay, so basically this game is going for £5.50 on Steam. Do you reccomend for the price? Is the multiplayer active? Would people want to play this on Co-op with me? I've seen gameplay video and tried demo and I thought it was quite good.
Fucking gunships
I hear it's bug ridden and the devs dropped support already, but for that cheap it's so tempting. :(
It is a shit game, you might as well just take your 7 dollars and wipe your ass with it. You get the same experience. This game is a huge insult to the Operation Flashpoint series and name.
Terrible game. Don't spend a single dollar on it.
Save your money for ARMA 2
Don't get it. Terribly mediocre. I got bored before I was even half-way through the singleplayer so I uninstalled it.
Don't get it period. Totally not worth 50 cents, let alone 5 bucks. did i mention the 64 unit editor limit
Shitty game.
I've tried it on both PC and Xbox, Xbox it was a decent game, but for PC, one thing killed it. WHO THE FUCK MAKES A "QUICK" MENU THAT DOESN'T FUCKIG CLOSE WHEN YOU RELEASE THE BUTTON.
It is really fun with coop on the 360. Never played it on PC. You guys didn't even list why it was bad.
It is really fun with coop on the 360. Never played it on PC. If you actually like this game, I'm going to be blunt with you. You have bad taste. Co-op can be fun if you're playing to make fun of the game, however.
Me and a friend co-op'd this game on Hardcore all the way to the last mission. We couldn't fucking beat it because we didn't know where the hell the guy we needed to kill was, and those fucking chinese kicked our shit.
Friend said he gona get it on x box. I played the first few when It was free to play on gametap.
The performance is fucking terrible
Dragon Rising's main menu system is one of the most atrocious I've ever used.
I tried the demo and it had around a 1 second input lag. Didn't even get to kill someone before I uninstalled it
Horribly buggy game that all support has been dropped for. Not even worth $7. Flush that money down the toilet and you'll get a more satisfied feeling.

I guess Mass Effect is a bad game too? And don't forget about Bad Company 2. Sheesh, I have terrible taste. I don't like MW2 though. Guess I may as well commit suicide. Thanks for being "blunt" with me. My life is over now.
Worth it for the co-op if you've got friends. otherwise, shitpile.
Well I was going to buy the game before I read this thread. Thanks for saving me some money
That video didn't seem completely fair..
There's a reason it's so cheap right now. Because it sucks.
From release to support being completely dropped in just under 6 months, without the team folding, mind you. They just stopped caring once they got their money's worth. I will never trust CM again, that's for sure.
75% off! I loved the original! - Read the threads on FP - :frown: Played the demo - :suicide: They really did rape OFP and turn it into a console shooter. Now uninstalling the demo. Going to browse steam for something better to spend money on.
That video didn't seem completely fair..
You're right. The SMAW soldier in ARMA II was misplaced, everyone knows the ARMA II soldiers are a bit slow at enganging when they are at a bad angle.

If you put basic troops down you'd see the glass take hits and the driver probably die.
Don't get this game, even if it were free. Don't even have a copy of it in your house. It's a shame to even have a copy. The game is THAT bad. The people over in the OFP:DR Codemasters forums were hyped up about this. They expected everything to match real life so well, that it ended up sounding ridiculous. Overhyped games never turn out well. Unless it's something from Valve.
Uh, why have there been hardly any patches since the release of Arma2? If anyone has given up on support, its them, seeing on how their game runs like shit on most computers with any decent graphics setting.
What do you mean, there's around 5 patches released so far and it's probably your computer that's the problem. I run my 2007 vintage machine in all high, no AA with a resolution of 1600x900 and it's all fine. Also, BI Studio even releases beta patches on the forums.
