As we all know, Valve decided to do something they specialize in: making pointless and damaging adjustments/updates to one of their products.
It just so happens that this time, they took one of their staple products, COunterstrike: Source, and completely screwed it up. There are many reasons that it has become screwed up, look them up on the petition signature viewer at the end of this thread after you sign it.
Not everything they did is bad, but most of it is.
Not everyone has a modern gaming PC, or even a basic up-to-date pc. Things are expensive, alot of people do not have the budget. Being able to play CS:S on our crappy pc's without the sacrifice of graphics and engine capabilities was great. Minimal lag, smooth gameplay as a whole (when console and serverside commands are config'd properly) was a blessing. These are just some of the many things I and most other players are upset about.
For those of you who want the old CS:S back, sign this petition. Valve says they want to do this and that to fix it, yet they havent mentioned much of anything about addressing the issues that most people are actually upset about.

Get a better computer and stop whining.
An update on the Update
The reason for the recent update was to move Counter-Strike Source (CSS) from the older HL2 version of the Source engine to the most recent version. This brings the CSS codebase in-line with our other games. This resolves long standing issues associated with the older engine and allows us to benefit from features and bug fixes in other source games as they come online, such as improved graphic effects and more accurate hit registration.
During this process we created some unintended side effects, these are bugs. We are actively investigating all reports.
A good example of this is bullet penetration changing on Linux Servers only; not Windows Servers. This was a subtle bug to track down and understand. It has been fixed.
Rest assured we will continue to fix old and new CSS bugs. We want to retain the CSS gameplay experience that you know and love. We would also like to thank everyone reporting bugs and posting constructive feedback. This is an invaluable part of the process.
The CSS Team
Stop whining.
Modern gaming pc IS the orange box engine, dumbfuck. A video card to run it costs $40 where i live. Go cry to mom that you cant play it anymore. Fuck off.
1 - The removed Minigames, Jailbreak, and our custom content that we loved so dearly!
So? That is not main gameplay, and most of it was stupid.
2 - They removed the awesome ragdoll, and replaced it with an animation of the model getting down with his hands on his head. WTF????
I agree, but you can still use the old one.
3 - They put the maximum Tickrate to 66. No more smooth gameplay.
Actually, you can have very smooth gameplay. If your computer sucks put -dxlevel 81 in launch options.
4 - They removed Lua, so that hackers alike cannot anymore have fun with the game. For this statement, you will tell me that "Hackers are Bad." Not all hackers are bad! Most hackers simply want to have fun writing scripts and using them. Who is Valve to take that right away from them?
Hackers are bad. There, I said it. Most people agree.
Valve can't cater to computers that are so old they can't run CS:S. It would be like a car manufacturer mass producing accessories for a car that was discontinued 30 years ago.

Boo hoo, they updated their product finally and you're whining about it. If you'd bother to even investigate the new cvars, you can turn off most of the new features and have it exactly like the old game.
This isn't 2002 anymore, everyone should have at least a decent PC. Hell, I know someone with 512mb of Ram and a 6200 nVid card that can run L4D2. Lags a bit and can be choppy at times, but hey, it works.
Tickrate don't mean shit. The difference between 66 and 100 is purely placebo.
Also if you find this thread dumb, look at the Steam CSS forums. It's awful
1 - The removed Minigames, Jailbreak, and our custom content that we loved so dearly!
They didn't remove those intentionally, but they broke compatibility with SourceMod, which I'm pretty sure was already fixed.
I would not see why valve would let hackers play. They make it a point to remove them in their other products, I see no reason for them to keep their policy from being universal.

Pointless and damaging? They upgraded CSS into a newer, better looking engine, sure it made more bugs but there's always bugs appearing on new updates, no one can just magically code something without mistakes. And they're fixing them, so stop bitching. Also you mean "we" as in stupid whiney CSS addicted players who can't get over changes to their favorite game which are their lives?

If you really can't run CSS at all, then you really need to upgrade your PC. CSS doesn't need a $1000 PC to run it.

Whoever typed this is retarded, Valve made the game, obviously they have the rights to take away features which they thought could ruin gameplay.

How about no.
Minigame, Jailbreak and other mods are all fucking fixed now, have you been under a rock for the past week?
1 - The removed Minigames, Jailbreak, and our custom content that we loved so dearly!
They didn't remove it. They updated stuff so the game could be better, the coders that made the mingames just have to update their stuff so it works.
2 - They removed the awesome ragdoll, and replaced it with an animation of the model getting down with his hands on his head. WTF????
That has been fixed
3 - They put the maximum Tickrate to 66. No more smooth gameplay.
What's the difference?

Hackers are bad, those that have good intentions play by the rules, not making some sort of shady .dll file that is supposed to give you lower fps, but strangely makes you aim perfectly and always get headshots :downs:
And for the agrument of bad pc's. Well, when your car gets old, you get rid of it and buy a new one. Do the samething to your pc if handling CS:S is a probem. (Which it shouldn't be, besides there still the regular graphic options and you can still use some of the console commands.)
Now watch this video:

Need to make a petition for banning everyone who whines about the update.
theres hardly any different in the update.. People need to stop complaining..
The headshot icon looks dumb is my only problem.
Bring it back? What do you mean? It's still on my game list...
But seriously, I like it better. A lot more balanced and achievements. I just hope we get some DLC now. Like maps and junk.
If your computer sucks you should play classic CS
Valve updated their game. Deal with it.
EDIT: You made a petition? Ahahahahaha, oh wow. Petitions never work.
