Sorry if there's already an enormous thread on this, but I simply don't see one. Maybe I'm blind. I don't see how you guys could have possibly missed this. Well, here's the links: http://www.gameinformer.com/b/news/archive/2011/04/14/new-nintendo-console-at-e3.aspx http://kotaku.com/#!5792165/new-nintendo-console-debuting-at-e3-launching-in-2012-more-powerful-than-xbox-360-and-ps3
If it's motion controlled I'm still not interested.
I already have a Wii, and all it's been doing for a while now is sit on my shelf inside the box.
The Wii is just a hyper-advanced etch-o-sketch.
If it's motion controlled I'm still not interested.
Gameinformer's source stated that it's not a gimmick.
Nintendo isn't going to abandon their Motion Controlling bullshit so quickly. I'm sure they're going to stick with it for a lonnggg time. Increasing the graphics isn't going to make me want to play it more.
If it's motion controlled I'm still not interested.
We're not going to get any where else with controls if people keep doing this.
I'm into a heavy discussion on another forum about this. Found a pretty interesting theory too from NeoGAF. I'm hoping all the info is true about it though, supposed to be more powerful then the PS3 and 360 and Nintendo is trying to recapture the hardcore market.

NeoGAF posted: I have to wonder how thought out their strategy was - because I could see this as having been planned all along. I wonder if... 1. They were confident in their "casual gamer" approach and the ability for motion controls to bring people in 2. So they make their console SD, less powerful, etc. and make lots of money by selling it at $250 for years. 3. MS and Sony make their consoles uber powerful by comparison, sell them at a loss, which makes lengthening the console life-span important in order to recoup costs / make money 4. MS and Sony gravitate toward the "casual" market, pin their hopes on motion controls to extend the console life-span 5. Nintendo is free to move first in ending their console's lifespan, releases something significantly more powerful right at the time when MS and Sony are trying to extend their consoles through motion controls (the general concept of which is no longer novel) 6. Sony and MS are now pressured to do what they don't want to do: release their next system sooner rather than later, etc. You have to wonder how much of this "all according to plan." I don't think they'll drop the motion thing, they'll probably just do what playstation is doing and have games use both normal controls and motion for games or just have different paths for games. Makes sense.
Until the Wii gets more then two or three good games I refuse to buy the console.
New Nintendo Console Debuting At E3 This June, Launching In 2012, More Powerful Than Xbox 360 and PS3
:psyduck:
Until the Wii gets more then two or three good games I refuse to buy the console.
It does. Metroid Prime Trilogy, Super Mario Galaxy 1&2, Twilight Princess, Super Smash Bros. Brawl, Etc.
:psyduck:
Probably won't be more powerful than their replacements, though.
Nintendo should've just made another Gamecube instead and fucked the Motion Controllers right off.
...fuck And I just got recently got my Wii and could go around boasting how I have all of the consoles and a nice PC. If the release of Nintendo's new HD console ends up triggering an early next-gen of consoles I will be really pissed off. Of course a guy being pissed off in the internet doens't mean much, but still...
Until the Wii gets more then two or three good games I refuse to buy the console.
No More Heroes No More Heroes 2: Desperate Struggle MadWorld House of the Dead Overkill Okami Resident Evil 4 Wii Edition Rune Factory Frontier Monster Hunter Tri Trauma Team (And all other medical games.) Lost in Shadow Sonic Colors (It's decent.) And that's just listing the ones that weren't made by Nintendo.
Probably won't be more powerful than their predecessors replacements, though.
I highly doubt, fuck I'm almost certain that the new Nintendo console won't be even around the power of PS3/Xbox 360. Nintendo was never high end graphics shit, I doubt they'll start now. They are used to earning profit day 1, high end console won't do that day 1.
It does. Metroid Prime Trilogy, Super Mario Galaxy 1&2, Twilight Princess, Super Smash Bros. Brawl, Etc.
Also these ones, but I prefered to list the ones who weren't made by Nintendo so no one could play the "That aren't made by Nintendo" card.
Nintendo should've just made another Gamecube instead and fucked the Motion Controllers right off.
The billions of dollars in profit Nintendo has made would like to disagree. Seriously, the Wii has been a major success for Nintendo, and they won't change the formula anytime soon. I for one am waiting for a motion controller that is actually responsive without the damned sensor-bar. The original wiimote flat out sucked, and Wii Motion Plus still isn't that great.
So, the Wii was really promising to me until I got it in release, brought it home, popped in Call of Duty 3, and couldn't stop spinning in circles to actually play the game.
The new Wii will also get an NMH sequel.
Weren't the SNES, N64 an Gcube all pretty damn powerful for their times?
I meant in the past 5 years or so, with the new gen systems. If you look at their hend helds and other stuff, none of them trives for graphical superiority. Neither does Wii. Hell even the new 3DS doesn't, while NGP is like almost PS3 graphics wise. Edit: My guess is Nintendo does that cause of money. They don't like losing it. And if you make a console like PS3, or NGP, you WILL be in a loss for a while until you start profiting, because the manufacturing cost of the PS3/NGP will be higher than Wii/3DS, and the retail cost does not fully covers the expense until a while after.
A gimmick is only a gimmick if it's treated like a gimmick by the gimmick designers. Nintendo is a certefied gimmick designer and thus knows exactly how not to make gimmicks. Hopefully Nintendo won't ruin their reputation by abusing the H dimension; I'm sure they wouldn't want anything to happen to all of those pixels.
It sort of makes sense for them to make HD consoles. Considering that consoles (with better specs) such as the PS3 and the 360 now have motion controllers.

For a screen that small the difference in graphics between it and the NGP won't really be all that noticeable. And there's absolutely no way Nintendo will release an 8th gen console that is weaker than seventh gen consoles.
Did anyone else get a kick out of the name? Wiiii?
I really hope it wont have a worn out name like HD attached to it

I don't think I've read it in the article. It could be a Wii HD.
It does. Metroid Prime Trilogy, Super Mario Galaxy 1&2, Twilight Princess, Super Smash Bros. Brawl, Etc.
That would be accurate to say per year though My big thing is that the Wii doesn't get any good third party games. You have to rely on games from the classic franchises that have been around since the old days like you mentioned
Nintendo isn't going to abandon their Motion Controlling bullshit so quickly. I'm sure they're going to stick with it for a lonnggg time.
What makes you say that? They've already got Microsoft and Sony ripping off their tech. Mission accomplished.
