I just got the game today with my 20$ and after it installed, i launched it. Nothing happened. It showed my steam friends avatar go from blue to green then to blue.

it's a game on steam.
So? Valve may have birthed steam but the Valve Games and Mods section doesn't need to bare the weight of an unqualifying game.
Restart Steam, it happened to me. All it needs is a restart.
