Join my server:
portalmultiplayerfree
pass is 123
Now launch portal, go to the dev console, then type in "connect 5.7.88.12"
without quotations.

But it has servers. Portal only has local servers, while L4D has full fledged servers.
You can't download SRCDS for portal.

That's not what I meant. I meant portal wasn't designed for multiplayer at all. In fact, I don't think it works whatsoever.

It works, as in you can connect to the server, but it's EXTREMELY fragile. you can't use the portal gun, and almost everything crashes the server.

Right, because playing portal online is so awesome. You do understand that portal's only discerning feature in multiplayer is the portal gun? Why not just play gmod? It's pointless.

Unless you have changed your server's port, it really should be "connect 5.7.88.12:27015".

Also, "Failed to connect after 4 retries" usually means that either
