I plan on getting this game, I played it yesterday with some friends at an internet cafe and seems freakin awesome. But I have NEVER played co-op ... EVER. Just wondering how it works. Anyone care to explain? 1. Do I just start a server and people join in and help me out with the single player? 2. Is co-op strictly just a multiplayer thing, like will single player really be complete with help, or is co-op just for shits n giggles and doesn't actually account to finishing the campaign? 3. Does this game still have a thriving community? Especially for Australia? Since I'm from there.
If you played it with a bunch of friends it means you played it in co-op...... Theres just a bunch of different gamemodes; online campaign lets you play with 3 other dudes with L4D's shitty matchmaking system in a random server of [del]your[/del] Steam's choice, and follows the storyline of the game that you can also play alone in Single player. Survival pits you in a small map with 3 random dudes (again) where you have to survive for however many minutes to get some fancy ass medals Then theres Versus, the most fun kindof multiplayer. It lets you play as the special zombies (infected), and your goal is to stop the Survivors from reaching the end of the level. You get to play as both humans and infected once on each level. Theres alot of people who still play L4D I'd say. No idea about Australia though but it's worth a shot. It's a fun game (if you're getting Left 4 Dead 1). "Australia" Don't get l4d 2 .
Well you shouldn`t really call Left 4 Dead 2 not fun.
1) You start or join a server: and then you play through select campaigns. 2) Having a good human players in left 4 dead is the difference between playing monopoly with a bunch of people and playing monopoly by yourself. (versus is more for giggles, because it's basically a griefing game. Incredibly fun.) 3) I think there are a lot of people that still play l4d, though I can't answer your question specifically for australia. I know that when the steam deal came for the bundle, I played through many of the first game just so people could experience it.

But good luck
This should go in the megathread: http://www.facepunch.com/threads/1064919-Left-4-Dead-Megathread
