I'd like to order some stuff from the Valve (merchandise) Store but unfortunately I don't live in America so I assume I'm going to get raped with import taxes of all sorts plus shipping fees.. has anybody else in the UK ordered anything from the Valve Store and did they have to pay some extortionate amount of import tax or VAT or whatever? Not sure if this is the right forum so apologies if it's meant to go elsewhere.
-snip- valve store.
-snip- valve store.
He means the merchandise I believe.
yeah thats why I sniped.
Can't order to Hungary, that's a shame. Well, on the other hand, if I could order, then I'd probably drain my bank account. :v:
shipping prices are a living hell even in america i fear for your wallet (10$ for 2 week shipping seriously)
I ordered four posters and I live in Sweden. All together it became like $50. Still rather cheap since the dollar doesn't cost as much anymore. Took three days for it to ship and it arrived 9am so even less than three days shipping from across the globe. DHL sure is cool.

i'm sure garry would make a lot of money for charging usernames

I ordered 2 Midnight Riders shirts from the Valve Store, and I live in the UK. They never came.
Send GabeN an email. Get free stuff.
They've sent me a Portal 2 poster signed by Gabe Newell himself. :fappery:
(UK) I ordered some stuff (a friend got a shirt in the same order so we'd save a bit of dosh) and on top of the price of products + the shipping I had to pay customs an import fee or something, which I think was around £12. Stuff is good though.
Send GabeN an email. Get free stuff.
I live in China. Be right back, buying that aperture science mug and that portal shirt I've always wanted but never bothered to buy.

I've ordered two lots of stuff from the Valve store: the Left 4 Dead 2 5-poster pack and two t-shirts. The posters didn't cost me anything extra but the t-shirts cost me quite a lot at customs (something like £13, which was half as much as the two shirts cost without postage). So be prepared to potentially be assraped when your stuff enters the country.
IIRC, the threshold for import duty in the UK is £18.
Yeah when I checked a currency converter for a headcrab hat I backed out and I also live in the UK.
Damn. Sounds like you have to order a lot to justify it. To those saying they had to pay £18 or whatever, I assume that's on top of VAT as well as shipping?
Got some TF2 posters. Split the postage 4 ways with some friends so I only had to spend an extra £15. It should say when you go through checkout how much it will cost for shipping etc. Does for me.
I had to pay customs to recieve my items, a friend who's also bought from valve store from the UK had to as well... roughly £17 I think (T-shirt, cap)

The link above would suggest that you only pay customs duty if you're spending over £135, Wiggles and LonelyTimeLord when you say you had to pay customs I assume that would be the VAT, rather than customs duty?

EDIT: Yeah I think it might be the VAT. Commercial consignments of £18 or less are free from customs duty and import VAT. For example, goods purchased over the internet with an intrinsic value not exceeding £18, will not be charged any duty or VAT but this does not include alcohol, tobacco products, perfume or toilet waters. See paragraph 2.5, 2.6 and section 3.
I ordered a 1$ bumper sticker with 25$ shipping fees (Netherlands). It was worth it.
From the H&m Site.
Commercial consignments of £18 or less are free from customs duty and import VAT.
