Is Valve switching to Mac for Portal 2 and Steam? And if they are, are they quiting PC games?
its for both Mac and PC.

They are doing Steam version for Mac, but you will be only able to play games that are Mac compatible.
That's what I heard.
And no, they are no way near quitting PC games, they are just doing something extra for Mac users.
That's a pretty dumb question. Why would they just stop making games for PC? That's like throwing thousands and thousands of dollars out your window and then lighting yourself on fire.

Thousands of dollars? There's hundreds of thousands PC gamers buying who have intentions on buying portal 2 at $50 a piece.

Now that actually sounds fun. That's the difference.
It's a simple port of the Steam platform, no news on the games being ported or not though. And in theory this will make it easier to run on Linux as both Linux and Mac OS are Unix based. And probably use similar languages and systems.

I know. But millions to them is thousands to one person (us), I don't know. I don't know why I said thousands.
I'm tired.

Source will have support for OpenGL. It'll still use DirectX on Windows. GoldSrc (HL1 Engine) had OpenGL support, right back then, so it won't be the first time a Valve game has made use of it.
All Valve is doing is making a version of steam for Macs, they aren't going to develop for them. This way Valve can charge double from a game and have it still sell (Mac users are used to over paying of stuff anyway). They just need to make sure the Mac version of Steam is shiny, Mac users LOVE shiny things and they need to charge for it, the only thing Mac users like more then shiny things is overpaying for shiny things.
I agree, monthly fee for the mac version ftw Acesarge

The new Steam beta is plenty shiny, that must be why.
"Oh wow, we should lose about 90% of our business by working on Mac only! Let's do it!"
"Hey, I've got a job. Should I leave my family and child now?"
