So im downloading World of Warcraft online, i have a 1 megabit connection so it took 36+ hours. I get to the VERY last patch and avg detects malware in the WoW launcher, WTF avg, malware from blizzard? I think not. So being the dick AVG is it UNINSTALLS the launcher and other important stuff automatically to "protect my pc" and restarts. Now i have to repair and reinstall all the patches again. tl;dr - fuck you avg Yes this is kind of a rant but what i want to get at is, can anyone explain how avg would detect malware in a world of warcraft file?
false positive.
Go to the exceptions and add the World of Warcraft folder to the exceptions list. If that doesn't work then turn off avg while patching. If THAT doesn't work (somehow) then there should be an option somewhere that disables Automatic deletion.
step 1: remove avg step 2: get something better
get nod32 it is the real shit
step 1: remove avg step 2: get something better
AVG is great, if you're not an idiot.
AVG is great, if you're not an idiot.
Exactly! Dont blame AVG.
For some reason I thought this thread was going to be complaining about AVP.
Could be worse. Could have Norton.
AVG is great, if you're not an idiot.
No antivirus is great, if you're not an idiot.
Microsoft Security Essentials!
Same thing happens to me when the game updates, just click "allow" next time, or whatever the button is. I'm going to download Comodo soon, I'm sick of AVG.

Personally I find avast! is better
No antivirus is great, if you're not an idiot.
Wasn't your Steam account hacked?
Comodo is a .. firewall?
Comodo Internet security includes a firewall and anti virus.
Personally I find avast! is better
.
I used Avast! and Spybot on Windows. Never had any problems.
If you do run down the new AV road (I had AVG for a while, I changed to NOD32, now sitting back on MSE) I suggest Paid: Nod32 Free: Microsoft Security Essentials
I suggest you install Avast! instead of AVG. Much better IMHO.
Yeah Microsoft Security Essentials is the best.
Malwarebytes too. Get it.
Personally I find avast! is better
i use avast and run spybot along side it
Spybot? Terrible resource hog. Hasn't improved since the wave of bad reviews.
i cant say as ive had any problems, yet again all use for is gaming (steam) and the occasional internt shop
Don't use antivirus. Antivirus is a virus, it creates barriers, runs consuming background processes and hardly ever does that job right. Every virus has to execute or else it won't do anything, and that means I can find it in the task manager, if I find it in the Task Manager I can find the root files and prevent it from running by either ending the process and deleting, or removing the core files that make it function properly. I haven't needed to do that in a while though but I beat two trojans doing that. Some viruses used to be impossible to stop because they'd change your user account permissions but MS seems to have fixed that so I don't need antivirus anymore.

I find Kaspersky works well.
I have to use a shared comp and my mom decided to put *shudders* Norton on it. :suicide:
