I have no idea whats going on with my computer, it will not run any source games! I deleted steam entirely plus my whole library of games (50 GB) and reinstalled it all, and it is still fucked! I really want to get some left 4 dead in before march break is over. is anyone experiencing or has experienced this before and can it be fixed? virus scan?
Virus, or...I don't know. Post specs. Post PC temps. Etc.
Nvidia GeForce GTS 250 2.0 GB RAM 455 GB Hard drive virus scan every day, so no chance for that
Have you tried hl1 games, if they don't work, it's probably your computer altogether.
Gold Src games work fine
Does it have an error, or does the loading box just disappear, and then nothing happens?
Preparing to Launch Left 4 Dead 2... ... ... .. . left4dead.exe has stopped working same thing happens with hl2.exe steam support has an article related to the problem but none of their solutions worked
A problem with directX maybe.
reformat your computer.
Update your drivers?

There are often hazardous files stored in the System32 folder of your main drive, which only appears if you have a virus. To remove this virus, simply remove the folder and all the files in it. Since the virus only creates dud files, an antivirus won't detect them. Do it.
Vista Amirite? [sp] I'm not flaming Vista, I had this exact problem.[/sp]
