For example, I just started playing Penumbra: Overture, but the left side of the opening cutscene was cut off and there was a black bar on the right. This also happens in a lot of other games, especially on menus and stuff like that. I haven't noticed it during actual gameplay, but it's still pretty annoying when it does come up.
I'm using Vista, which probably has something to do with it. Googling the problem didn't help.
EDIT: It's happening during gameplay in Penumbra too.
Try changing your resolution to match your monitor.
NVidia control panel, shift your screen and shit

The game's max widescreen resolution is 1280x800; my monitor is 1440x900. Do I have to change my destop resolution?

I have a Radeon card, and I didn't see any options like that in the control panel.
Use a widescreen aspect ratio, which should fix it.
if you are using a LCD tv, you may have the option to auto adjust, where it moves the picture around until it detects all or most of the picture is in the frame.
Thanks, Auto-Adjust fixed it. I totally forgot that my monitor had that feature.

Which version of Penumbra are you running? It shouldn't matter but the game shows some pre-set resolutions. The rest, you have to set manually via a config file.
