Hotline Miami is a 2D top-down action game made by Dennaton games and published by Devolver Digital in November 2012. It is unique in that it is a breakneck-paced, thumping 80's styled slaughterhouse where you take control of a mentally-unstable bloke in a letterman jacket and rooster mask who goes to places and slaughters the fuck out of baldy Phil Collins lookalikes and gathers new animal masks and weapons, all at the behest of his answering machine, which has cryptic messages from an unseen party dictating when and where he should unleash his primal rage. Wikipedia description:
Hotline Miami is a 2D top-down action video game by Dennaton Games, a team composed of Jonatan Söderström and Dennis Wedin, who had previously collaborated on Keyboard Drumset Fucking Werewolf.[a] The game is being published by Devolver Digital and was released on 23 October 2012 for Windows.[2] The game has been described by Eurogamer as "a top-down fuck-'em-up",[3] blending top down perspective with stealth, extreme violence and surreal storytelling, along with a soundtrack and visuals influenced by 1980s culture. The game itself was heavily influenced by Nicolas Winding Refn's neo-noir crime drama film Drive (2011); the director is specifically thanked in the credits.
Videos:
