• SMOD trouble?

Sorry if this is in the wrong section. Yes I did search before I made this. Last night I went to run SMOD and everything worked fine. Until I put in impulse 101 to get all the weapons. (Why else would you play SMOD?) Only the normal HL2 weapons showed up. I have the normal version of SMOD too. V 0.40 I think it is? Anyway, I wanted to know if anyone else had these problems and how to fix them. Should I just re-install? Thanks.
SMOD and all other SMOD mods have been all wonky for me ever since the HL2 update to the Orange Box engine. I wanted to play some SMOD Tactical yesterday but, alas, the HUD was all fucked up and the weapons had different models and everything.
I have a feeling that it won't be fixed for a while.
Well the mod makers would have to port their games over to the OB engine, and they won't do that so I'm not really gonna get all butthurt over it.
Pretty much any mod that used HL2 as a base was messed with when HL2 got updated to the Orange Box engine. However, the old Source SDK Base still uses the Episode 1 engine and is mostly compatible with those mods. Onemanshow over on the SMOD:Tactical boards already released a small patch yesterday that switches Tactical/Redux over to the Base and fixes a few issues in the campaign that the EP1 engine introduces. There's also the same patch for good ol' vanilla SMOD. So yeah, no worries. e: Oh, and CSS SCI-FI was already using the Base, so that was completely untouched.
Basically any mods that used custom scripting are fucked up(besides smod, there is also hl2 substance mod)
There's also the same patch for good ol' vanilla SMOD. So yeah, no worries.
How do you install it?
How do you install it?
Extract the stuff into Steam/Steamapps/SourceMods/SMOD and restart Steam. That should be all.
Basically any mods that used custom scripting are fucked up(besides smod, there is also hl2 substance mod)
Yeah, just reinstalled Substance yesterday and now don't see a way to fix it, aside from extracting a whole bunch of stuff from HL2's GCF. :frown: SMOD sort of lucked out with its mount system.

Sorry to revive my old thread, but now I'm having another problem. On some of the later levels like Eli's lab, Beginning of Highway 17 and others, all the textures are fucked up. Pink and black sky box, fucked up car/airboat. Screwed up water, everything overall is f-ed up. But only on some levels. I've never had this problem before I downloaded that patch. And again, it's only on some levels. Others are fine. Thanks for any more help.
Yeah, some of the maps got updated with HDR and SMOD, being on an older engine, doesn't know what to do with the changes. Only real workaround is to extract the pre-update maps from Steam\Steamapps\Half-Life 2 Content.GCF to your mod folder (or if you'd rather never have the changes, Steam\Steamapps\[account]\half-life 2\hl2\maps should work). The affected ones are:
d1_eli_01.bsp d1_town_05.bsp d2_coast_01.bsp d2_coast_03.bsp d2_coast_04.bsp d2_coast_05.bsp d2_coast_07.bsp d2_coast_09.bsp d2_coast_11.bsp d2_prison_01.bsp d2_prison_02.bsp d2_prison_03.bsp d2_prison_05.bsp d2_prison_06.bsp d2_prison_07.bsp
Some time before the SMOD:T forum shut down, I wrote up a batch script for HLLib so you can extract all this to your SMOD folder with one click. You can grab that here. If you'd rather do it yourself, GCFScape is a great tool and quite effortless to pick up. Just use the list above and you should be fine. Sorry for not telling you. I still haven't replayed the campaign in quite some time, and only later saw others report the problems.

But now the A.I. is disabled. It just starts up every map and the A.I. Won't do anything. And it says A.I. disabled in the corner.
First time I've heard of that, sorry. Extracting the pre-update AIN files in maps\graphs is worth a shot, as a problem with the node graph is the only thing that should result in that error.
CSS_SCIFI seems to be making SMOD work again. Developing...
What? What do you mean?
What? What do you mean?
If you install CSS:SCIFI, SMOD works fine through the use of CSS:SCIFI. If you use my mapadd generator and launch the game from the generator, it won't work and it gives you purple checkerboard textures and no entities. If you generate a lua pair and mappadd in the generator and then launch CSS:SCIFI normally and then open the map in game via the console, the mapadd functions properly. The key is to not launch the game through the mappadd generator but through the CSS:SCIFI icon on your desktop. [editline]09:42PM[/editline] Nevermind - SMOD works fine, even smod redux. You just have to launch the game via steam. You can still create mapadds via the mapadd generator, but you have to launch the map from the console and not the mapadd generator. Hey, I don't mean to bring back the dead either, but I saw this topic and was hoping you could help me.... See, I really wanted to try Half-Life 2: Substance GOLD, but it doesn't seem to be working. I can access the VR Training, but thats it. And even that doesn't seem to be working quite right. I saw somebody mention that mod in this topic and was hoping somebody might know how to run it. Ide be very thankful for any help anybody could provide. :)
Just to let you all know, Smod is being remade for the Orange Box engine. So yeah.
Just to let you all know, Smod is being remade for the Orange Box engine. So yeah.
is redux V8 being remade as well?
Play Cs:s Scifi until it's fixed/you fix it, it's fun and it's almost a good substitute.
is redux V8 being remade as well?
How should I know what the creator of some random script edit is doing. And besides, it's not like the entire thing would have to be remade, he would just have to set up the scripts again to work on Smod2.
FUCK, the SMOD tactical forums got shut down. No patch for me.
FUCK, the SMOD tactical forums got shut down. No patch for me.
Dont worry, I got it before they were shut down (i had it backed up) It didnt even work so there's no use crying over it.
