The game is good IF you are a seasoned mmo player. And what I mean by seasoned is you have tried them all and some don't really spark your interest. Darkfall is unique. It is hard but once you find a guild (Which you should do right at the beginning.) then you will be fine. But really after you get past some of the grinding and stuff you will like it. Also the huge battles and boat raids are fun as hell. Also pvp is intense. I remember we got attacked by an opposing clan on our island and we had this huge army running to us with fireballs and arrows. It was crazy. But it was fun.

I quit because I got board of the grind at some parts and plus I am waiting for the next expansion to come out. Also no you can not.
I won it by doing a mod riddle challenge and wining. But now if you are here for 2 years and have over 2000+ post you automatically get it.

SWTOR is scheduled for a Spring 2011 release, From what I hear AoC is no where near on par to other MMO's but not horrible either ... STO is pretty decent but needs some polish still, it's more or less just an Open beta right now to be honest... Star Wars Galaxies is the same as sucking on a donkey dong, but that's just how I see it since I played it before the Combat Upgrade and NGE Updates that ruined the game
I say play Allods Online, it goes Open Beta in 3 days, and it's free
Runes of Magic, or
Dungeons and Dragons Online
They're all free, and the three best Free MMO's out there, so if you want to burn some time without burning some cash, here you go

Darkfall is pretty gay imo.
I hate the fact when someone ganks you they can steal everything out of your inventory. I don't mind having some type of penalty or item decay, but to lose everything you worked for is fucking retarded.
And the whole excuses "You should of stored it" is utter shit, i shouldn't have to worry every minute about my items.
Other then the crazy PVP darkfall doesn't offer much as a MMO, it could be compared to a sandbox game.
It's not hard to get back your gear, its simple,get your crafting skill up,craft your gear and your ready.
If you bitch about losing your stuff you shouldn't be playing in the first place, man up.

Darkfall is great, i went from 3 years of wow to darkfall and im never looking back.
Basically, if you liked Ultima Online pre-trammel and think new MMOs are shit, Darkfall MIGHT be what you're looking for, from what my old UO friends say. But I doubt anyone here even remember UO, let alone pre-tram UO.
As for me, I haven't played DF yet. I don't buy something without trying it, so no trial = no purchase.
Also, I hate, with a passion, buying expansions after paying a monthly fee that's supposed to cover new content, hence why EVE's free expansions appeal to me and why I stopped playing Dark Age of Camelot, WoW, and Planetside. Anyone know if you have to buy DF's expansion?

Level 80 is "end game" in other words when it gets fun. Getting there usually takes people a year their first time. Not to mention you have to pay for the game, bc expantion, and wotl expansion. Come to think of it I have a spare account with an 80 Death Knight if you want to buy it. (Already paid up to wotl, saving you about 100$ to start)
If you enjoy paying for trials, spending all day macroing, losing all your stuff to a naked guy who spent all day macroing, the worst development team to ever walk the earth, horrid server reliability, bugs out the ass, hitting trees or rocks all day, and lag that lets people with nothing on kill you and your good armor and take it all: Darkfall is for you.
If not, go play a normal MMO.
Seriously though, I played this for a couple weeks in the beta and then about a month after release. It is complete SHIT. No other words can describe it. Basically the dev team (Which makes the laziness of Infinity Ward seem like nothing) spend 6 years dicking around doing nothing with a half assed game. Then they got a little attention and they pushed out a very bad looking and poorly made game and profited. The people who play it somehow think they are better than other MMO players because they have "skill" when in fact the measure of skill in Darkfall is how much can you lag out to where you can kill an armored guy while naked. People who play it also seem to have this odd infatuation that the game is actually good, because they have their heads so far up their ass and they don't want to admit they wasted 50 euros on something that should have been scrapped 5 years ago.

Lol EU server/beta tester Fail more please, Most of the people who talked shit always complained about the beta, quite a few beta testers returned to the game and realised it has gotten better.
