~update 12/15~ OUYA and android support added! Kickstarter ended at 650%! Free Alpha Demo is now closed :( but heres the gameplay video! You run about looking for treasure in a dark flickering dungeon full of deadly. Your quest: get the treasure on the 26th floor, and make it back alive. Which you won't, you'll die....the game is about dying, and treasure. The demo is out to help the kickstarter, and to get the game greenlit on steam.
why is batman narrating?
why is batman narrating?
We have a weird sense of humor, and figured we would throw as many tropes into the teaser as possible, having a voiceover guy(saying things from every movie trailer ever) was a must.
Is the game gonna be 10$ once it's released? I only have 4$. Game looks awesome but with all the deals lately I'm trying to save it for the best deal. This game looks like a blast!
ogm u called it a rogelike but it cant be coz it is not turnbased!! and it doesn't use askey for everything!!!!
Even though that's sarcasm, roguelikes don't need ASCII or a turnbased system in order to be a roguelike.
Even though that's sarcasm, roguelikes don't need ASCII or a turnbased system in order to be a roguelike.
Yeah - but it always seems to be the two biggest ones that all the hxc roguelike fanz bring up. roguelike morelike rogue4lyfe
Combat's really stiff. and what's the sword stat mean? Attack power?
Yeah - but it always seems to be the two biggest ones that all the hxc roguelike fanz bring up. roguelike morelike rogue4lyfe
hey hey. click my title.
Combat's really stiff. and what's the sword stat mean? Attack power?
Yeah, combat isn't finished, and the sword stat is strength/attack power. the book is EXP. It's just barely an alpha demo, we really wanted people to be able to -move- so they could feel how awesome the lighting is, and hopefully like it enough to pre purchase it on the kickstarter. The attacking will most likely change a little at least, a lot if we reach more stretch goals and implement character classes/overworld.
Huh, just checked the website, Tiny Plumbers looks like a lot of fun too
Wait you guys made Neverdaunt? I remember I got banned from that game haha.
Tiny Plumbers was the first game we made in Unity3D, it turned out great for a learn as you go game, though it took a lot longer than expected because of networking and all of its horrors.
hey hey. click my title.
The term roguelike has evolved to something different than it used to be. Not for better or for worse, it's just different.
I am loving the aesthetics and the lighting, and the whole "modern retro" feel to it.
The term roguelike has evolved to something different than it used to be. Not for better or for worse, it's just different.
It hasn't evolved, it's just being used to describe every game that involves dungeons and/or some randomization
The term roguelike has evolved to something different than it used to be. Not for better or for worse, it's just different.
I wouldn't say it's changed so much as it's lost meaning since it can now be applied to pretty much every game There was a time where you could click on a thread about a roguelike and immediately know several specific things about how the game is going to work. Now you don't even know what genre it's going to be because every new game using the word just takes a spin on the Roguelike Feature Roulette to justify using the word, and spreading the already-thinning definition to its limits.

I actually play Rogue once in a while, and even though Legend of Dungeon isn't ascii or turn based or single player, etc. It has a lot of the same feel you get from rogue, but in a live action setting. Some items are cursed/bad, potion colors are shuffled each play through, perma-death, you eat food that you picked up off the floor... you get the idea. I certainly don't want to abuse the term roguelike.
This game has a nice soundtrack.
This game has a nice soundtrack.
Thank you! It's actually just a sample from our composer friend. He's going to make us an awesome set of tracks that assemble dynamically as you play, depending on the monsters in the room. [editline]2nd December 2012[/editline] I forgot to say that the demo is only up till the kickstarter ends, so I edited the original post. I know its an early build, but if you tried it, let me know what you think!
The controls could use even some minimal explanation at the beginning, I kept throwing my sword and drinking beer instead of eating an apple.
The controls could use even some minimal explanation at the beginning, I kept throwing my sword and drinking beer instead of eating an apple.
Everything is still a really early build so lots of things may get tweaked. There is a control setup in the menu, that way you can pick whatever keys you want, or set up a controller or four.
we've been updating the game fairly frequently, you can see our latest changes and news right on the kickstarter, here : Updates I would love to hear what you guys think of the game after you play the demo!
Looks promising, but online play seems like it should be an essential feature. I've backed $10 my man.
We've added OUYA and Android to the release platforms for the game! It is also the last dchance to get in on the Legend of Dungeon Kickstarter, it ends tomorrow.

Not played the demo yet but I'll back this tommrow, something about roguelikes and permadeath I find fun like in FTL
Just dropping by to say that this looks really cool. I love games like this. I have sunk more than 1000 hours in to the spelunky, crawl and dungeons of dredmor combined, so something like this is very relevant to my interests.

It looks good, I'm interested! will there be online coop even though the kickstarter didn't reach 40'000? I mean, the online coop alone would cash in a LOT on it's own, atleast on pc.
