I'm not switching because I think one is better than the other or because of games etc.
I currently ran out of my Xbox Live and realized that at the rate I play console games it's not worth it to keep purchasing a yearly/monthly Gold subscription. Thus coming to my idea of selling my Xbox and my plethora of games (MW2, Bad Company 1, etc) and purchasing a new $299 PS3.
Before blindly taking a leap into this I thought I'd consult my experts on consoles.
The PS3 comes with a 120GB hard drive (more than enough for me) and one controller. The only problem would be games. I'm sure that if I sold my Xbox 360 and the games I'd have more than enough for lets say MAG and a few others.
Is this a good idea? If not could you give me tips to make it better? Cheers.
If you don't play a lot of games the PS3 sounds like a good idea. The exclusives are more quality over quantity.

I don't play very many console games. For example, I hadn't even so much as turned on my Xbox for the last 2-3 months that I had my Xbox GOLD.
PS3 to me seems like the better console this gen. Way better exclusives, and contrary to what people seem to believe, the PS3 actually does have games. A LOT of games.
If you have a computer that can play games, then a PS3 is good. the 360 to me just seems like a cheap PC really.
I have recently bought a PS3, and being the owner of a 360 and a PS3 all i can say is FUCK YEAH that's a good idea.
It is a DOUBLE good idea if you don't play consoles too often.
i changed from 360 to ps3. best decision ive made gaming wise. not regreted changing once.
best exclusive games to get in my opinion are uncharted 1/2, heavy rain, infamous, killzone 2
cant say ive tried MAG tho

Good idea. PS3 is a better console, PSN > Xbox live, killzone 2 is better than halo 3

You'll use your PS3 as a media center too, probably. Best purchase in awhile.

If you get a PS3 get some exclusives. Uncharted, MGS4, Heavy Rain. The only reason I haven't done this is because I like some of the xbox exclusives.

Definitely don't get MAG... Biggest waste of money I've ever spent...Get BC2, and don't waste time on MW2 again...
Anyways, I'd say go for it... Sony has a lot of upcoming exclusives that look pretty good this year.
I changed because my xbox broke. and MGS4.
FF13 too, which i know is out on xbox too, but it dislike changing disks in this generation of gaming.
Pricing for a PS3? 299 for a slim, and it's basically good to go right out of the box, unless you want a HDMI cable.

Yeah, I find the LIVE system a joke.
Ok, here's my story:
I wanted a console so much few years ago, so I bought Xbox360. I had it for 2 weeks, and then I sold it. I just wasn't happy with this whole payable LIVE multiplayer. So then I switched to PS3 and now I'm a happy user already 2 years. It still works perfectly fine. There were no problems with it and games are very easy to find for me. In my country, we are trading games all over and it's really easy to play any game you want. That's a big plus for me.
I know that most people support Xbox360 because of available piracy, and no one wants to admit that. There are only a few X360 users, who are paying original games. PS3 doesn't have piracy, that's why everyone "hates" it. But games are much better quality than Xbox360. Halo 3 vs. Uncharted 2? Please,...
PS3 is by far the best console so far, and it will become better with Playstation Move.
I seriously recommend you to switch to PS3, it will be much better gaming experience.
Heavy Rain, Uncharted 2, Killzone 2, Metal Gear Solid 4,... Incredible and memorable games.
The only issue I have ever had with Playstation is the controller. It is awkward as fuck to use and it's not nearly as comfortable as a 360 controller.

Are you kidding? Xbox360 controller is not comfortable, not PS3's. But I guess it depends, if you played PSX or PS2 in the past.
I actually swapped for the very same reason about a year or two ago and I am very happy with my choice. Do it!
